If the animation quality is actually good and this isn't half-assed AND has good writers, I'll totally watch the shit out of it.
If it ain't up to this quality I ain't interested.

Filthy imperial propaganda. X-wings are shielded and have some armor plating, while TIE fighters have the consistency of wet toilet paper when under fire from laser cannons.
In all seriousness, though, this was one of my favourite SW-related animations ever.
Can't think of many Western anime-styled cartoons that are actually any good. Castlevania is the only one I can come up with. I know a bunch that were specifically written in the US and then had the animation done in Japan or Korea, but nothing else done entirely Stateside.
They should hire the studio that did Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, or else the one that did Durarara.
Personally holding out hope for a handsome Chewie cameo.

Empire never gets the love it so rightly deserves
what are you talking about, empire is widely accepted as one of the best star wars movies if not the absolute best
If it's not gonna be a Japanese team, you might as well get Genndy to do it. He already has worked with Star Wars to stellar results.
While that is really impressive for one dude in his spare time, it's a pretty low bar to set for a professional studio.
I like how the X-Wing in the promo image even looks like a WWII fighter flying in reverse.

“The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots” said Filoni. “My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that’s been a big influence on me. There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.”
This description makes me think we'll get something similar in spirit to that Tie Fighter animation, albeit on the good guys side. Very interested to see how this ends up.
Have you seen the animated schlock western animation studios put out? Yes, compared to Japanese studios like kyoani it's not that great, but the wording "anime inspired" and Lucas studio's inclination to outsource projects closeby stateside heavily imply its going to be made by a western animation studio.
I was excited till I saw Dave Filoni. Clone wars was great but he laid a big fuckin stinker with rebels
That's mainly due to budgeting and politics. Clone wars was given a relatively loose leash under Lucas because he didn't give a fuck and is rich as balls but Disney runs a damn tight ship. I doubt you could show the empire in all of its world enslaving, planet destroying mass executioning, throw trash into the recycling glory while also showing the rebels as a highly organized smuggling , arms and drug trafficking outfit that sponsors terrorism without some chucklefuck bringing up "moral family values" and shaming Disney.
Clone wars gets around this because the republic is modeled after the U.S. government and the CIS is just robots so its ok.
pretty obvious that DIsney has decided they want to push all side cannon to the period between the original movies and TFA by now. Rebels was them retooling an existing production for something they could control.
Avatar.
What did I just fuckng say? Written in the West, animated by Koreans and Japanese.
Aren't a good chunk of cartoons outsourced to be animated in Korean or other places? King of the Hill was also animated by a Korean studio.
Yeah. But like I said, there aren't really any good examples of not-anime done only in the States.
Jesus christ sorry I was wrong.
I can't tell if the pic in OP is cell-shaded 3D animation ala Tron:Uprising/Dragonball Fighter Z or 2D.
If it's the former ( which I assume it is because even a lot of anime do it for vehicles now) hopefully it's up those standards because if it's anything less then it might look crappy
Avatar is more inspired by donghua than it is inspired by anime
