God, I just ventured into some comment sections on the verdict and it's actually a lot worse than I thought it'd be.
"Oh, why were they only coming out now, some bravery that is, they're only doing it for the money."
Oh, yes, why didn't they just come out and accuse an entertainment juggernaut worth billions of rape and take him to court, a man loved by much of the world, no less? I'm sure that'll be great at the parties, people will love me! And what bravery? Can't they see all the wonderful comments they're receiving? Now when they Google their name they can see "Bill Cosby rape victim" on a wikipedia page for them and have that be their legacy for the rest of eternity. Why don't they just come out? The outcome from doing such a thing is nothing but positive!
I'm pretty pissed off right now. Maybe because I thought this was something we could all mostly agree this was a positive thing. I'm almost certain this wouldn't be the case a few years ago. Now it's cool and hilarious to make fun of and harass kids who were victims of shootings and accuse them of being actors and shaming rape victims is a thing that gets voted up to the top of comment sections.
