>Almost 20 years after Chicken Run became the most successful stop-motion animated film of all time (a record it still holds to this day), The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Aardman Animations is officially working on a sequel.  >Details of the film are scarce at the moment, with the project not yet ready to hit markets. But THR understands that the U.K. animation powerhouse is developing the pic alongside StudioCanal, with which it has partnered on its most recent titles, and Pathe, which co-financed the original with DreamWorks Animation and distributed it in Europe. >Sam Fell, who earned Oscar and BAFTA nominations for 2012's ParaNorman and also helmed Aardman's Flushed Away in 2006, is attached to direct, with Paul Kewley (Shaun the Sheep Movie) producing. Original writers Karey Kirkpatrick (Over the Hedge, Smurfs 2, The Spiderwick Chronicles) and John O'Farrell have been reunited to pen the screenplay. Aardman's co-founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton are executive producing. 'Chicken Run' Sequel in Works at Aardman (Exclusive) | Hollywood..
Well, that should be fun
Is this because of the memes? This is because of the memes
More stop-motion can't be amiss, even if it sucks it'll be a joy to look at
If Aardman's doing it, I'm game
What memes?
Forgive me for my poor reading skills, I thought the tile said they're going to do a Chicken Little 2 and I actually let out a audible "OH NO"
Chicken Run is old enough to vote?
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/553/8256b3ab-fc33-46a8-aadf-81c08c8a5d93/image.png I'm hyped. Stop motion is a dying art in a field of cheap CGI mass produced animated films.
Live action sequel with real chickens
What a world, where memes get things done.
was literally just about to ask for someone to post this pic lmao. love that one.
If it's got a solid enough concept sign me the hell up.
Well memes got the current POTUS so I guess Metal Gear was onto something.
This is one of those movies I find myself quoting with my Dad all the time -- to this day. I have no high hopes, but am ready to be pleasantly surprised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae50P_ajLxA
Obviously the next step would be to imitate the stop motion/claymation style, but with CGI. It's not going to be as good as true stop motion but it would make the artform easier and more cost effective to do, as stop motion films are time consuming and expensive to shoot with sky-high materials cost.
I grew up with this film. Me and my mum consistently even now quote the film. Especially the "What kind of pie" scene.
So who should they get to play Rocky this time? Cause I highly doubt they'll want Mel Gibson's name attached to the new movie.
When I was like 6 I sent Aardman an email saying they should make a sequel where the Tweedys build a chicken tracking device and find the chickens again, it must have gotten lost in their inbox for all these years but good to see they finally found it and got to work
It's a case of chicken and the egg, the memes exist *because* of Chicken Run being good
Can we get memes of who framed roger rabbit after this?
I am okay with this!
This is one area where 3D printing and cheap 3D modeling is actually causing the prices to crash though. They can quickly animate the characters in a computer now, then print out the individual frames and quickly turn things around. Plus they can 3D print tiny...everythings.... now and don't have to sculpt every single item like hundreds of times over.
nobody asked for Now listen here you little shit
