Hello,
I have been playing rust for more than a year now and i have never had any problems with it, runs smooth never crashes ... but since 3 weeks ago, i noticed my game started having freezes while playing, not just minor freezes which i can deal with, but 5-6 seconds freezes(0fps).
I also have noticed that when this started happening, the game started using much more RAM and VRAM than it ever did (past: around 3-4 Gb of RAM and around 2 to 2.5 Gb of VRAM // Now: 6 to 6.5 Gb of RAM and 3 Gb of VRAM) which is 100% RAM and VRAM since i run a 8Gb RAM computer with a gtx 1060 3gb. (my graphics settings have always been the same)
I have tried everything from my side to fix this issue (updated windows 10/ messed with the regedit / disabled "superfetch" and other ressource consuming services to fix the common win10 memory leaks).
I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it in a different hard drive but nothing worked.
It got even worse because, now i can't even load in the servers since my RAM fills up 100% at around 1600/2700 assets during the asset warmup process, which makes the rust client unresponsive, and crashes.
I thought i will just stop playing it while waiting for a patch or something to fix it, but it has been too long already, even though i am not 100% sure where the problem is coming from, i would suspect it coming from rust since my pc didn't change and other games run the same as before.
Sorry for the long post. Thank you so much if you took the time to read this !
PS: I love rust have 1200 hours in it and would be very sad to know that i can't play it anymore :/
PS2: I'm also a content creator for Rust, and this little setback has prevented me from creating any rust content in the past few weeks.
You should try doing a memory check, maybe something is wrong with your ram. Do you have similar issues on the staging branch? other games?
Heres how you can do a memory check
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-detect-bad-ram-with-the-windows-memory-diagnostic-tool/
I have done multiple checks and my ram is good i tried also by using different combinations on the sticks and slots they are located but no result
I forgot to post my system specs
Graphics card: GIGABYTE GTX 1050 2 GB (not ti)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965
Mother board: GA-790XT-USB 3
RAM: 12GB 3 sticks of Corsair vengeance (4 GB each)
Is there a way to write to facepunch directly ? The problem is still persistent and it is quite aanoying to say the least...
