Facepunch has a racing games general thread, which was actually quite popular on oldpunch. That thread is still hanging around but it’s no longer as popular, not because Facepunchers aren’t interested, but I believe because the many millions of threads in the other video game subforums (which also appear in the generally Games subforum) crowd out the racing games thread from the general Games subforum. It ends up leaving the first page quite quickly.
I reckon there would be potential for a whole subforum. There could be a thread for Forza games, one for Gran Turismo games, one for proper simulation games etc, and even a thread for everyone to share their liveries in, or photos they’ve taken in-game.

Why don't we solve the fundamental problem which is all of the threads from the subforums drowning out regular threads in GGD instead of the band-aid solution of throwing on more and more subforums?
Why not have both? I reckon there would be enough demand to justify a racing games subforum.
Which is why I said you could do both.
I'm just saying that the solution should not be "just move it out of GGD" because that doesn't solve the underlying problem that causes the need for a dedicated subforum for any given game or genre in the first place, which is that GGD is an unhelpful mess.
subforums right now are so lacking, they even defeat the point of subforums being "containment" for specific topics that are yet still broad. they're just pseudo-tags for threads tbqh
I dont disagree with OP but implementing any more subforums right now is just gonna make me hurl because of design stuff
They could definitely consolidate existing subforums. TF2, Counter-Strike, Half-Life and Dota ought to be replaced with a Valve games subforum. Polidicks could become a subforum of Sensationalist Headlines etc.
sub forums should be genres with tags for identifying features (i.e. a type) imo

I have no idea why they felt the need for four subforums when one was enough.
Maybe the subs for the games section should be something simple like Valve-Nintendo-Xbox-Playstation-PC-VR
