Why was there no quip from Mr. Plinkett or bag getting dragged away in the opening?
That action figure is great.
Not every episode has that. Rare, but it happens.
The ending subverted my expectations.
I definitely agree with them. For a movie with this many leading characters, and so many subplots, they did a good job in not having the overall plot be a huge mess.
I like Rich's visceral reaction at the mention of Steppenwolf at 7:29.
Speaking as someone who was feeling the superhero fatigue as well, I agree with Jay, I'm actually looking forward to the next Avengers.
Rich made some great faces before the spoilers. When Jay compares it to The Empire Strikes Back, you can tell he initially disagrees but then comes right around to it. Beautiful.
How much did they like it? What's the TL;DR?
I want to watch on amazon once I can, so obviously can't go watching that
Remarkably positive. To the point where Jay said he is excited to see a new Avengers movie
Considering how tired of hero films they've gotten, i'm actually blown away that Disney is making people this excited
I genuinely believe at this point Disney must be using some kind of satanic ritual magic to pull this multi-billion dollar movie scheme off
I've only seen like 4 marvel movies prior to this, and even I'm looking forward to the next one. It wasn't a perfect movie, but it was good.
Even as someone who hasn't seen any Star Trek, every time Mike brings up some random episode I lose my shit.
Maybe it makes it even funnier, I dunno.
one of the best youtube channels out there
I haven't really seen a marvel movie since the first avengers. I've seen iron man 3 and the dr strange movie, but I can't remember anything about them. Would watching this movie give me an aneurysm from confusion?
It's actually just sad when you know very perfectly what he's talking about in perfect detail so really it'd better when you haven't watched
yes
needed to see:
thor ragnarok: explains some plot points in infinity war
if you don't know broad concepts behind black panther, either see it or absorb the basic setting
Its almost as if building a universe gradually overtime and establishing a well structured mythos/lore makes a cohesive plot and avoids a film with this many characters from feeling crowded.
Grudgingly stares at DC
You pretty much need to see Captain America: Civil War, GotG 1 and 2 and Thor: Ragnarok.
Maybe Spider-Man: Homecoming so you get the dynamic between Parker and Stark.
What if i go into the movie only caring about seeing Thanos fuck shit up? Is there enough of that in the movie to warrant a watch? I haven't cared about mcu since the first avengers, so I've just been waiting to see thanos, but it took so long.
Maybe someday I'll check out all the movies I've missed.
The movie itself does give Thanos the central focus so you'll definitely be satisfied in that department. Still hope you do check out the other movies though because they are fantastic as well and knowing about them adds to the movie a whole lot.
Honestly I disagree about having had to see all those other movies. I had only seen Iron Man 1, Dr. Strange, the first Avengers movie, and Thor: Ragnarok before seeing Infinity War. I've never been invested in the Marvel universe. But I never felt lost in Infinity War. Yeah, it could help seeing those other ones, but I don't think its necessary.
Civil War and Guardians 2 are both on Netflix at the moment so that might make things easier for you
Now i need to go get my official Jay Bauman action figure!
I actually now want legit Mike, Jay and Rich Evans action figures. Mike Stoklasa now comes with detachable AND refillable flask!
Considering how much attention they put into developing thano's character. i imagine he'll probably go down as one of the best villains in recent years.
Sucks cause the previous marvel films had such amazing potential to characterize and develop the villains into something more. Ronan, Malekith, Ultron, etc.
The movie expects you to have watched every film before it. Infinity war has had 10 years of build up.
To be fair, you didn't need to see Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor 1, Thor 2, Captain America 1, Ant Man or Black Panther to understand the plot of Infinity War.
Hell, I got by just fine without seeing the ones in bold.
I think the GotG movies and the latest captain America are only really needed to get whats going on.
I'd still recommend watching all of the good MCU movies though, part of the fun of the movie is the climax of a decade long buildup.
Some friends invited me to watch this next weekends, but I've only seen Iron Man 1, Captain America 1 and 3, GotG2, half of Thor 1, and Black Panther.
Bit worried I'm gonna be missing out on what the fuck is happening.
