http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-43941146 Meanwhile, Huffington Post quotes an unnamed official at the Elysée Palace , who said the tree is under quarantine.  The US Customs and Border Protection website explains that foreign plants "intended for growing (propagative) require a foreign phytosanitary certificate in advance" before being brought into the country.
the real world version of this https://i.imgur.com/PDqrSCy.jpg not remotely shocked that trump is this petty, what an actual wet wipe a wet wipe with not that much money
Where does it say that he directly ordered this??? He's not in absolute control of every aspect of the government
why would it suddenly be under quarantine - something that 100% would've been checked before they planted it - espesh after macron's very obvious dig at trump?
Either of which is likely, given this administration.
I'd personally place my money on both tbh.
If they had to put it in quarantine for a reason they should've said something.
There are tons of things you can bitch trump out for, like changing laws, regulations, and bills that can cause higher teen pregnancies, screw with customers, letting people basically dump trash in the environment, ruin consumer protection, that type of shit. He's already being a petty cunt about real problems. But this conspiracy that he somehow secretly did this to be petty is just silly because it's so minor and symbolic, and besides, it's not Trumps style to do shit secretly, so there's no way he did this. He'd have at least 6 shitposts on twitter over it by now, followed by some weird passing comment in a speech.
If trump wanted to give the finger to the french he wouldn't have done the whole photoshoot song and dance where he and Macron planted the tree together. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/624/cpsprodpb/4F5F/production/_101091302_046374225.jpg The tree was quarantined only four days later. Seems far more likely that he simply didn't bother checking any of the regulations on foreign plants to begin with, and somebody from Customs had to clean up the mess. People being ignorant of invasive species regulations is very common, and I don't think trump exactly has his finger on the pulse of modern ecological issues. I think this is a case of "never assume malice when incompetence is a possibility".
You make a good point, but the man really is that petty. When Macron was on the way home, articles were written and pundits were a-gab with talk about how Macron totally bamboozled Trump into thinking he was his friend, by being nice and tolerating him, and then when he spoke to Congress he 'betrayed' Trump by talking about all the things that Trump doesn't want to acknowledge or listen to. Trump is exactly the kind of petty manchild to have a tree uprooted and hidden/tossed out as if it never happened just because pundits are saying that Macron "played" him and made him look foolish. He fires people who contradict or displease him, a tree is nothing. I don't think it can be confidently said that the tree has been removed permanently because of Trump's bratty tantrums and not for other, more mundane reasons, but it's a very plausible explanation among the potential reasons. We'll see if it leaves quarantine and gets put back where it belongs, or if the White House just "forgets" to replant it where it's supposed to be.
Yeah, Trump has like a Saturday morning cartoon Villain pettiness, wouldn't surprise me if this was done out of malice.
This was before macron did the one two and kicked him down the stairs.
I mean if it'd happened under Obama, Fox News would certainly spin up a story about how this is "tyrant" Obama getting petty and angry. The difference is that such an episode would've been really out of character for how Obama conducted himself over the course of his terms in office. Trump's established reputation is as a petty cheeseburger-addicted grudge-holding manchild. The assumption that the tree was removed because of bratty tantruming isn't coming from some niche attack-dog yellow journalism outlet like Fox, it's the starting assumption for at least some percentage of the mainstream media.
Eeeeeeeeeeh... that's a pretty high bar to be as petty as him.
This is a state visit, why wasn't the tree cleared through customs before hand?
You say this in like, every thread about Trump doing something, but I've never really seen you speaking up when there's something legitimate to rag him on.
Can you show me the apparent examples of me saying this in every thread? Because I've ragged on him fuck loads of times, so you've clearly confused me for someone else. Obviously if I think its not a big enough issue to be concerned about I'm going to speak up about it
Because it probably came in with Macron, who does not go through customs, nor does any of his things.
I can believe this was just planted for the photoshoot and then quarantined afterwards. Trump's a petty person but this is pretty reaching which seems unnecessary when there are plenty more guaranteed fuckups on his behalf further down the road to feel depressed about.
This is a stupid article. The title is to make you think that Trump threw the tree out, but it's even right there in the article https://twitter.com/GerardAraud/status/990717325191057409?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.com%2Fnews%2Fworld-us-canada-43941146&tfw_creator=BBCWorld&tfw_site=BBCWorld
I do think this is more incompetence than malice.
As much as I hate trump, I really wish that people would stop doing the inverse 5d chess "EVERYTHING IS TRUMP'S FAULT AND HE IS ABSOLUTELY CRUMBLING, KNOWS THAT EVERY DAY MIGHT BE HIS LATST" thing. It's literally just as bad as the regular 5d chess thing, and just as unfounded.
