I tried starting with decompiling the buggy but the QC scared me away with the bizarre quantity of animations and poses.
Assuming that would be too hard I performed experiments just modifying the scripts and using the regular jeep model. I kept a record of this in a text document and have now uploaded this as a guide for Garrysmod which you can look at here if you would like to get into vehicles. This little guide is worth glancing at because you can make new style of vehicles just using the buggy, or at the very least uncap its speed.
I went to the VDC for vehicle modeling and realized with some fiddling that getting a working car into garrysmod required at most three animations (I think it could even be one with the way animations can reference single frames). Many of the ones for the buggy exist simply to smoothly have your players view line up with the view bone or the gauss gun aim, while the exit points are actually just based on attachments to the root bone and require no animation.
My plan is now to (manually) make many of the vehicles from Mad Max: Fury Road/Mad Max 2015, as well as any interesting suggestions for mashups. I'm sure someone could point out that the mad-max game could have its files ripped but it seems far less fun to just port outright. And I can say from personal experience there are no war-rigs or super large vehicles in that game either (it is what inspired this personal undertaking however)
My consideration here is also to have the vehicles fit with the overall aesthetic of gmod/hl2. As for these three, I started with the Elvis, Frank, and Peacemaker as I assumed they would have the highest polycount with all the exposed elements. The peacemaker also has added complexity as its got a gold finish and treads for wheels. I use textures from HL2 where I can, from my personal collection of Jerome photography, and the remainder from textures.com
In the future I do plan to decompile all the beater hl2 car props, give them proper wheels, suspension, and steering geometry. Then release that as a separate workshop mod (if that hasn't already been done). It should be nice for some people as I can use all the default textures and just upload models and scripts making it very small filesize. This may end up happening before my madmax creations get released as I have to work on my texturing with these as well as add all kinds of fun details, like mudflaps, skins, spikes, and custom steeringwheels (and a map too if I have time).

These two have a lot of engine detail. I spent an entire night googling the suspension system used for the 1932 3 window coupe front end, while getting the proportions right on the FJ Holden was also a challenge. I still need to grime them up in places/add weldlines.

Almost no references for the peacemaker show the interior so Ive gone back to the blu-ray special features and taken a closer look. All the textures are going to need replacing and additional geometry added to the cabin. Large cut down the backend as well as mudflaps, bandolier, and perhaps even a throne/spotlight bodygroup.

And here is a test of the peacemaker, to see if it would even look half right or if it was a lost cause

I've been making movie accurate and game ready mad max models for 14+ years. I have a lot I am willing to share if your looking for partner.
That said I am shit at texture work and I wouldn't even know where to begin on rigging for gmod. but If you are up for a challenge I may be willing to share my lifes work.
Currently I am working on the tanker trailer from Mad Max 2 the road warrior and the people eater tanker from Fury road. I can convert models to almost any 3d format thanks to a converter I bought years ago. I have facebook group where you can look at models past and present.
PM if you want to see what we can do. I mean hell I have the roof gun made for that elvis mesh you have up top there. I can give it to you if you think you can skin it and rig it.
14+ years‽ Just how much material can the Mad Max universe provide, I can only imagine how good a model like that has to be, especially because there's no picture of it.
Well thing is these are very complicated machines once you hit Mad Max 2 and don't even get me started on fury road. For a long time we had only the movies to go off of and most of them were on DVD sure but they weren't remastered. And since some of the base vehicles used aren't american and for a long time Aussies weren't sharing photos all over the net we had to do a lot of guess work modeling because resources scares to say the least. I started my work in 2004. and it's been an ongoing project with many breaks inbetween when due to lack of a being able to make meaningful progress.
It's not been 14+ years on a single model more like that a mount of time on the whole of the mad max universe, which for the longest time only had 3 movies. But with Fury road came not just a flood of set photos and build photos from the new movie but museums in Australia started up web pages and were willing to share what was only in the private collections of movie makers and actors.
Considering in the second movie they actually repurposed and repainted cars on the fly to make the movie seem like it had more villain cars and trucks then it actually did. and finding them and making them has been a massive under taking. I've made many friends with people in and out of the movies and through that I finally been able to go back and fix past mistakes. All while learning "Game Ready" vs "show models" means in terms of poly and finding out tricks that the pros use to make models in most modern games.
if you want to see what some of the works have come out to be then feel free to check out my page here.

Not everything there is mine but the latest works I am doing is all scratch built work. Plus being a single father and then eventually disabled tends to make it hard to do work all the time.
I am not just about Mad Max. I've been doing old 80's cartoon vehicles, old toys,The terminator and so very much more. It's just hard finding good projects to pair my modeling work with. I was working with the arma III mad max mod till they stole one of my models and kicked me out and then blocked me. So I am taking a big risk if the above author takes me up on my offer.
I have to apologize as well. I recently took a job at a very remote location with very long shifts, little cell and no internet connection. If i manage to make any progress on my plan it will be a long time before I can post about it. Let alone accept @JJJonestheThird 's help. Sorry for getting hopes up.
Perhaps I will bump the thread again when ive got the means.
That's fine. I am nearly done on the main tanker trailer for the People eater and once that's done it'll take me a week or so to get the main truck in order anyways. I do have one model skinned of the Lord Humongus truck from Mad Max 2. So if and when you ready I do have a skinned model that just needs rigging.
JJJonestheThird, I registered an account just for this request. I am making a 3d virtual copy of the Car Wars Tabletop game for a program called Tabletop Simulator, and would LOVE to be able to use your models if you would let me
Well I am flattered. Pm me let's talk.
