• In everyones opinions; What is THE BEST way to start RUST?

When i'm saying this, I don't mean how do I start off on a server and/or wipe in RUST, I'm talking about complete noob just starting, knowing the basics and pretty OK at FPS, Survival, and Building. Any suggestions? P.S. I'm playing with a somewhat experienced friend. -Sauce
It's pretty important in Rust to know not only the basics, but how every aspect of the game works to facilitate your survival. My personal suggestion is to host your own server and generate a map where you can get used to the game's feel all alone, like a tutorial island. Once you feel confident (or bored) enough to go fight or run away from actual dangerous people, then hop on a server with the amount of players you want. More players means higher difficulty. Also unless you're a hardcore playa, it's better to start with a friend. Ideally, someone who knows the game well, but anyone will do.
naa^ Just watch some yt vids of popular solo series and that would give you a little head start. Main thing in this game is pvp so be prepared and ready for someone to try to grief you or raid you even if it doesn't seem like its worth it to them. This game is about opportunity and taking advantage of it as it arises. Also, doors doors doors doors and more doors.
rust is not one of those games where you hop on for 10 min then get off it takes time and patients you will need time to play it
Thank you a lot for the help! I really appreciate it. Also, one last question... Does hosting a server cost anything?
If you do it yourself like I meant, no. My suggestion is to download "Rust Server Manager", a program that makes it easy to launch your own server. Once it's online, just launch Rust while the server is running, press F1 and type "connect". That's it. If you know how to port-forward, you can invite your friends too and you won't get any random people in any case.
Build a tiny house and see how long you can survive. I have 3k hours and I've spent a lot of my time solo because its the most rewarding. You can always work with allies - and you'll be surprised how many people you befriend will have your back when they're sitting pretty - but by living solo you learn to survive on your own, make friends, and take hits when people fuck your shit up. Ease in to with a server thats between 3x and 5x and in no time you'll find yourself pretty confident in your own abilities, something that makes you more more attractive to other players. I cannot stress this last part enough: No amount of loot is worth your reputation. Make friends, throw in extra incentive on your loot, prepare to lose with grace, and don't be a shitty winner and I promise you'll make more friends than you want.
if you are just starting out i suggest that you go with experienced player because all these new things they have added scrap, workbenches and blueprints might be little hard to get as a solo player especially if you are new to the game
Get with a clan, and most "solo" Youtube videos are not even solo. Build away from other bases, hopefully somewhere pretty isolated, and watch out for ambushes, particularly when you are near sites and the road.
Get used to the PvP. Armed people aren't friendly, period. If you don't enjoy a challenge and can't play a game where death is more than common, this won't be a game for your style.
