Fucking why. Aren’t they just throwing credibility out the door like this?
They really are playing for broke.
When the putsch comes, only traitors and the brainwashed will stand with the fascists. Unfortunately, that's no small number of people.
They know their supporters don't care because no matter what they do the supporters will always will say "yeah but the democrats are worse"
Congressional Democrats are pledging not to exploit stolen materials in their campaigns, but Republicans have declined to match that commitment
Poignant, given the running discussions in other threads about how both parties are exactly as bad as one another.
Republicans are the party of Win At Any Cost, and that cost now includes accepting the fruits of computer crimes. You know, felony territory but who gives a fuck because #MAGA GET TRIGGERED LIBCUCKS #ProudDeplorable. It's a winning strategy as long as they keep control of both houses of Congress and the White House. If democracy isn't strangled efficiently enough, they'll lose control of something and that's when things start to turn around.
That's not what the other thread was about, the other thread was about how Democrats are ignoring and suppressing progressives, and as such progressives don't feel all that enthusiastic about giving them votes.
I don't think that's the point. Few here would deny that between the Democrats and Republicans, Republicans are clearly the greater evil by far. There's little left of the federal GOP but crypto-fascists and oligopolists. They should be removed from power in every event.
That said, the Democrats are an exceptionally shitty choice for being the lesser evil, and people are lamenting that fact. Just because they're the party people should vote for doesn't mean they're doing anything approaching a good job.
"It's just a feel-good pledge for Democrats to make themselves look like a better man. It means nothing anyways since there was no actual hacking in the last election. Democrats were just careless with their security."
they don't have any to begin with
If anything, the narrative would be "Seth Rich leaked those files and then Hillary had him killed."
The GOP has absolutely no credibility whatsoever anyways.
Because they generally can't win otherwise.
Look at the GOP today. The post-Tea Party GOP. Their base doesn't care about fair play. They don't care about credibility. They sure as hell don't care about democracy. Their ideal America is something very much like a fascist dictatorship where they're put on top and everyone else is crushed. So that's why the GOP knows they can say shit like this and their voters won't care.
Democrats run on credibility and sanity.
Republicans run on authority and recklessness.
The dangers of false equivalence.
Hey, dear dipshits who keep repeating this "both sides are equally horrible" nonsense,
you are not an enlightened unbiased centrist, you are just a prick.
Yes, yes, hate the system, hate the dems, hate "the lesser of two evils".
You can call it the "greater of two saints" if it makes you feel better,
but you got dealt a shitty hand so you either play the game or not,
so unless you wait for an unrealistic revolution to happen or move out of the country.
The only thing that will count is this: Your ballot, your wallet and your voice.
Your ballot first and foremost, the most important thing.
You can vote principle for 3rd party or not at all, your vote your choice,
just keep in mind that only the 2 biggest parties can make a real difference
and you gonna need one of them if you wanna change the flawed system from within.
Sadly your wallet, yes yes shitty system and all this one is optional as is the next one.
Encourage others to vote the same, protest, make a change.
Keyboard-warriors alone don't sway elections.
A third party vote under the current system is, frankly, effectively the same as refusing to vote. It's a vote deliberately thrown away. Change FPTP and they'll actually make a difference.
Turns out integrity is not a requirement to be a politician.
So if some damaging documents leak to the public, like the apocalypse in 2016, then politicians should just ignore it. Frankly I'd expect the public to demand that they address it. Weird that the article begins with events of 2016 and then goes on to talk about unverifiable documents and being directly offered it. Like all information is akin to some sort of collusion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall it being proven that in 2016 wikileaks directly went to a politician. Even if they did, they released it publically and then I don't see why "unity" should discourage hacking/interference. There's no way the public itself would ignore it. Neither is it true that emails from Mr. Podesta's inbox are unverifiable (dkim).
my friend, your spirit is not without notice and appreciation. but the fact of the matter is thus: you do not know how broken and rigged our "system" is in america. it's a long-coming culmination of bullshit legislation stripping away our rights, corrupt congressmen who have been "Serving" for 30+ years (!!!!!!!) and being in the pocket of corporate lobbyists. legal precedents deciding fates of people, and unfairly biased towards people of colour, for minor crimes. we have militarized police, the national guard, and so on to control us if we dare protest.
the game here is so unfair, you literally have to break the rules to get ahead. how many people do you know who made a fortune legally?
Does owning a successful company or playing the stock market skillfully count? Because there are plenty of people who got rich "by the rules" - the ones at the top of the capitalist wave, powered by all the wage slaves powering the economy.
