• No-Clip and the Cave Glitch - The Story of Cheaters on US East 2

Hello fellow survivors. We almost did it. We had a rad cave base, it was unraidable, 2 days until wipe. Then the cheaters came..... from under the map. They swooped into our base and looted the rockets and noclipped out before we could muster a defense. I've sent tweets to devs and admins alike but I have no answer. What I am doing here is warning anyone thinking of building in a cave that it's not patched. They can still fall under the map and loot everything. This is not fixed. They came for us today and we lost everything as a result. I would love to hear back just this once from a developer or a FP official that they are fixing this for real this time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEl_f2-DR-8
as a workaround until this is fixed - could you have added autoturrets and locks to the most important chest rooms in your base?
There were turrets, but they drop through the cave walls so no. Nothing can really be done.
of course! One that nobody official (DEVs or Moderators) seem to be acknowledging...
We have literally nothing to do with the development of the game, so if me saying I acknowledge that you are having an issue makes you feel better then I acknowledge that there's an issue with the game. It is a known bug and is being worked on, but like I said us moderators are just here to keep the forums clean of spam, illegal content, and garbage posting. We have absolutely nothing to do with the development of rust or any other Facepunch game, and we are not employed by Facepunch.
I know the mods here don't, but it helps a little nevertheless.
First - thanks for finally clarifying that you guys are even not employed by Facepunch. I should probably lay off some of the flame directed at you (under the misconception that you guys ARE part of FP staff, or a 3rd party contractor at the very least, paid to moderate the forums, just like EAC is a 3rd party hired and paid to "moderate" the hackers). Its not a "known" bug until someone official acknowledges it. That has been my entire issue all along. I (or other people) point out a bunch of hackers/glitches/bugs - but we don't see any acknowledgement, (and since we do no posses telepathic powers) which makes us think that things are not being worked on, or potentially are missed or are unknown to the Facepunch staff. Communication is the key! yes, acknowledgement is huge in customer relationship (support) management, but now that you revealed that you are not even employed by FP (its a bit shocking to me, but mmkay), that acknowledgement holds less weight. I'd rather see official FP staff acknowledging things, like they did in the last blog (respect to that!) This buggles my mind. So you guys are a bunch of unpaid (and presumably untrained) volunteers who just have "higher (forum) powers" and access to a "ban" button? Thats really all the difference between you and an average poster on these forums? I was hoping you guys at least hold weekly/monthly meetings with FP staff and report to them what major concerns you observed from the players in a given time period. I am now disappointed Why unpaid tho? We should immediately start a kickstarter campaign to raise some funds to get us some proper forum mods who are rewarded (monetarily) for their efforts, and thus hold higher stakes in striving to perform better as community and forum moderators!
I've been apart of the community for 13 years. Facepunch existed long before rust was even a thought in Garry's mind. Prior to rust the focus was Gary's mod, which at the time of it's original release was a free mod put together primarily by Gary with a little help from the community. With that however the community grew to encompass much more than just Garry's mod, and all of us aren't just some random folks who were given mod abilities. We're Mods because of our love of the community that has grown out of this form over a decade, and we don't ask to be paid because we were here simce Garry lived with his mum. You need to understand that a vast majority of this forum does not revolve around rust, or even Garry's mod for that matter. There are large communities that haven't touched those games in years, but stay for the community. Without going over the history or subtle nuances of the forum outside of the Rust section, things are a bit more relaxed and tongue in cheek. We do have contact with staff, and if people wouldn't post a million threads about their bans or how bad the AK recoil is now you would see the response the dev team had made over bugs and other issues. On top of that apparently no one decides to read the dev blog, which answers many of these types of questions so the dev team doesn't have to reply to the same question 100 times a week. Facepunch as a forum is MUCH bigger than rust, and we have to cater to that accordingly.
So...You do it for free? Should I mail some hotpockets...?
Yes, and I'm good.
