Maybe this time nobody will be thrown in the gulag hopefully when they opened
gotta say, feeling more and more optimistic about the NK situation for every day that passes now. cautiously optimistic, but optimistic nonetheless.
When they start releasing all of the political prisoners and close down all of the forced labor camps, that's when i'll believe that North Korea is serious in that they want to change for the better.
Seems like this might be the first baby steps to a 2 state solution for a unified Korea
I hope next they announce a train that will travel from Seoul to Pyongyang
Next thing you know, Kim Jong Un turns up on korean game shows and Korean drama
PSY makes a music video with Kim Jong Un and the world goes nuts
It's going to take a long time, if it even occurs at all. At best, NK will become like China.
Speculating wildly, I'd suspect undergoing changes modeled after China is sort of what NK is working on. I.E complete their industrialization and modernize the country technologically, while maintaining authoritarian regime and it's control over the population.
I mean dang, it started at least pretty quickly :v North Korea releases U.S. detainees
Imagine being able to travel to NK without having 99% chance of getting jailed/killed.
I know this is supposed to be great and all, but my gut has this terrible feeling about this whole situation. Maybe I'm being pessimistic but I feel as though there has to be some kind of other motive behind the scenes for all these peace talks besides actually taking a step in the right direction.
So, politics?
I don't think the words "2 state" and "unified" go together. The whole point of there being a unified Korea is that there's just one Korea, which by definition can't happen if there are still 2 separate Koreas.
A peaceful and enlightened NK would be a good place to chill
as it stands it's still not a fucking acceptable place for anyone to go to, just stay the hell away tbh
This feels almost too surreal to be true. It's like someone flipped a switch and all of a sudden relations between the two nations thawed overnight.
According to this other thread, there's a really good explanation why, and it's not good. Basically this is just part of a long-term strategy that's been going on for some time and is all being done simply to keep the N. Korean regime funded and going. This exact situation has happened before and will likely happen again.

Man, turns out RAYHALO was playing the long game after all
