Cohen and Trump are so fucked lol
I can't stop laughing right now. This is just too fucking awesome.
Friendly reminder the tap was in place BEFORE the raid on Cohen's properties. Trump called Cohen the DAY OF the raid. Lol.
At least one phone call between a phone line associated with Cohen and the White House was intercepted, the person said.
Can't wait to hear about how illegal and corrupt this wiretap was
Can this be used in courts? I'm not familiar with American law.
Title III wiretaps (what Cohen just got obliterated by) is used in current criminal investigations. So yup.
wasn't there another story that came from giuliani this week? does he not stop talking about this stuff to people or what?
Hell yes it will.
The raid on Cohen's office was predicated on probable cause that the FBI would find evidence of criminal activity. Calls between alleged co-conspirators after the investigation has publicly been revealed count.
Of course, as long as you have a warrant. Its how they busted mobsters before, hence mobsters had to use coded language to transfer info between eachother.
But considering trump can barely read or comprehend past a 4th grade reading level, i doubt they did anything like that.
They wouldn't bother if they couldn't.
I wonder if Cohen suspected if he was tapped. If not, then OH BOY BUDDY.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/giuliani-i-dont-believe-that-michael-cohen-was-wiretapped?ref=wrap
“Us lawyers have talked about it, we don’t believe it’s true,” Giuliani told The Daily Beast. “We think it’s going to turn out to be untrue because it would be totally illegal. You can’t wiretap a lawyer, you certainly can’t wiretap his client who’s not involved in the investigation. No one has suggested that Trump was involved in that investigation. So they’re going to wiretap the lawyer, his client, and his client the president of the United States? I don’t think so, not if they want to stay out of jail. Disclosing a wiretap is a federal felony. I never took ‘em home when I was a U.S. attorney.”
You (law enforcement) can wiretap anytime you have a preponderance of evidence that crimes are being committed. Giuliani is inadvertently drawing even stronger attention to the likely potential of criminal acts by the President's damage-control attorney. OOPS.
So when Trump claimed Trump Tower was tapped, he was disclosing the alleged Obama wiretaps? Or the Republicans expected Trump, once President, to reveal the taps (a federal felony)?
Giuliani's reloading those footguns at amazing speed.
Well, if he doesn't believe it, it must not be true. Move along, folks; nothing to see here.
Meanwhile he still says nonsensical shit like this, and some people still lap it up
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/991279620044591105
He would like to think that the law is "if there's no crime it doesn't matter what you do to hinder finding this fact out". Unfortunately for him the standing precedent for obstruction of justice does not agree with such second-grade deceptions. Obstructing justice is a crime in and of itself even if the originating incident turns out to not be a crime.
Besides, if Trump truly believes this, then he shouldn't have fired Comey for "obstructing" the process of clearing his name in spite of there not being anything that Comey would allegedly (if we listen to Trump) find. But as we know, the truth only matters to Trump when it's a mean to achieve his goals.
Yeah this is exactly why it's nonsense to me, he either doesn't understand his charge, or just hopes that his base doesn't. Not sure which is true.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/nbc-news-corrects-story-says-michael-cohen-wasnt-wiretapped
NBC News issued an on-air correction to their bombshell story Thursday reporting that a federal wiretap was placed on Michael Cohen’s phone. NBC said federal authorities were “monitoring” phone calls of President Trump’s lawyer, but not listening to them as previously reported. Authorities obtained a log of Cohen’s phone calls, known as a “pen register,” NBC quoted three senior U.S. officials as saying.
Pretty big fuckup from nbc and a free win for trump and his fake news crusade.
Arguably, this is actually worse for Team Trump.
Because if Cohen's line had been flat out wiretapped, the FBI would have the contents of the call Trump made to Cohen already.
They don't, but they know it was made because they have the call log. They know how long it was and exactly when it happened. They have a good case for demanding Cohen or Trump or both answer questions about the contents of the call. And if that call was 10 minutes long and Trump tries to claim it was over in 30 seconds, well, that only heightens scrutiny.

Dude's got a point.
You know, before 2015 I would've never seen myself checking this forum several times a day, I just never was all that into politics.
Hoo boy, this has been one hell of a rollercoaster 3 years.
So it turns out the story was completely wrong. They didn't wiretap the phones. All they did was a "pen-register," which records who you call, and for how long, but not the content of the call. Here's the NBC correction:
"CORRECTION: Earlier today, NBC News reported that there was a wiretap on the phones of Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal attorney, citing two separate sources with knowledge of the legal proceedings involving Cohen.
But three senior U.S. officials now dispute that, saying that the monitoring of Cohen’s phones was limited to a log of calls, known as a pen register, not a wiretap where investigators can actually listen to calls."
There's been quite a few big time corrections lately.
I'm excited for all this to blow over and let us lot go back to our political apathy. It's tiring having to keep up with this shit. Important, but tiring.
I just want a presidency that goes “remember President Bobbleston” “Who?”
Wow, Trump thought he had the best defense he could ever want, a lawyer willing to skirt the rules to help him out. Turns out, this was a huge flaw in his defense.
A handful out of literally hundreds written about Trump But yeah fake news amiright guys.
You're a joke.
You even talk like him, how cute.
You've completely lost your mind since the election happened. I remember you used to at least be somewhat better than this.
