Everybody switching to that simple, minimalistic, toon style I guess
That's cool I guess, feels more like a copy of Tribes: Ascend than a spiritual successor tho: What improvements does this bring over the original? From the trailer all I see is a less polished Tribes: Ascend.
This game first got announced in 2015. It's ain't part of any bandwagon you may think it is so slow your roll.
Unlike most modern games it does it because it's cheap and has a small budget.
Air control and gameplay is closer to Legions Overdrive and Tribes 2 than Ascend was.
Did the announcement come with an art style showcase? If so, link thank you.
I can definitely respect that, nothing wrong with it. In that case I hope they release modding tools as well.
As a long time huge fan of the series: meh.
It looks a bit floaty and the weapons don't look/sound very satisfying. What's even happening with the gun at 1:05? Are those bullets coming from the side someone else's bullets? If so, why doesn't that chaingun actually shoot anything?
Argh no linux release even though it's made with unreal engine. Frustrating.

Was the original trailer before the kickstarter
I regret sinking $20 into this, honestly
I might give this a go. Hated the gameplay benefits Tribes Ascend had for paying, they locked out the most useful weapons in the game if I recall correctly.
Here's hoping they actually return it to the series roots and actually have some large maps with vehicles.
(where's the optimistic rating when you need it?)
The problem with the art style is it has no style or substance. It looks like every other "we went with a simple not quite cartoon look because it's cheaper" game there is. It's possible to make a cheap art style without looking boring as fuck.
I saw the kickstarter and really wanted to contribute but i was a bit short at the time, it looks interesting and i'll likely pick it up.
Not so sure if it'll have much staying power however, i'll definitely try it out though.
Aesthetically, the game has zero charm or personality, whereas Ascend had great designs and was dripping with personality.
Only diamond sword scum would play this
As primarily an ex-Raider that liked to roam entire maps to see where I was needed most your avatar is giving me gen room disco grenade party flashbacks and now I'm pissed.
butcher plz
The weapons look and sound so unsatisfying. I can't believe they actually put that out as a promotional trailer, it just made me want to play the game less than if I had just heard "Tribes spiritual successor".
honestly prefer it
less work, less taxing on computers, and it tends to look better for longer if done right
The first thing I thought when watching the trailer in the OP was "what the fuck is wrong with the draw distance"
Playing with a friend the game's fine, but the graphics and UI are dogshit.
Also one of the maps is so fucking terrible because it has NOTHING to be able to get any speed off of resulting in everyone walking like dumbasses around the arena
The jetpack feels a lot weaker compared to TA imo and I find it hard to change direction mid-flight and jetpack up to platforms.
I also know that when TA came out classes were unlocked with MTX or grinding EXP but it feels awful having to do that again as a F2P. Feels like this was designed to give older players cannon fodder.
Midair fucking sucks. It's like comparing Toxikk to UT2k4. The movement in this game feels like I'm trying to skate with bars of soap strapped to my feet over a lake of frozen cum. It's so floaty and shitty in comparison to Tribes. You also can't trust the weapons to be reliable. If you aim at a target that's completely still, strafe, shoot directly at it, your projectile fucking misses. Why does my fucking strafing change the trajectory of my weapon? Garbage game made by braindead fuckin' devs, it just looks like Tribes visually and plays like hot trash.
looks super fun but i cant help but feel like the art style could use a little more UT2004 and a little less fortnite, not a lot just a little.
I don't think you understand Tribes very well then because momentum inheritance is a signature mechanic of the series.
Movement affected your shots like that in Tribes(: Ascend?) too.
I don't remember it being so bad. It's really exessive in Midair.
In Ascend, inheritance was per-weapon and most weapons had 0.5x inheritance. From what I remember in Midair, everything has 1x inheritance, like in Tribes 2.
My strategy pretty much revolved around annoying as many people as possible with the extended fractal grenade
I regret buying this during early access when I see shit like this at launch. Midair on Steam (links to its item store).
