• Building after new update- taking a step back?

I could be wrong I didn't test it much but... You can not place a higher foundation on a low foundation with a high wall? Instead you need half walls on top of a higher foundation. How is anyone with a smaller base starting out on a fresh wipe going to be able to expand onto that base if the terrain is uneven without destroying high walls they already constructed to enclose their starter base? Building 3.0 was a big step forward, this was a step backwards
Any insight?
They tried to fix every exploit in the building system, ended up making it dull and limited... Instead of focusing on real problems, like low server performance and random crash reports.
I thought they got rid of foundation stacking a long time ago (that seems to be the gist of the argument) or do you mean you cannot place a small foundation next to a big foundation ? I would be happy if you go could build higher than five floors without the walls falling down
this sucks, I can´t make my solobases anymore
It really sucks you cant start off small and go big now. If you want to build on uneven terrain now you need to make a big base all at once It is really limiting now and frustrating, as a solo player who starts out small and expands. Now my bases need to be built on a large flat area
I'll have to agree. As a solo I like to build and then expand. If it's a fresh wipe I'm not too worried as to where I build, I'm usually more worried if I can even get a base down. I then would like to expand onto my base but if it's uneven my base looks like a hot mess. I would also like this to be fixed. xo, Graison.
just make a "layout" of your base in twig, to see if it fits. I had to do it before this change anyway before starting to build on uneven terrain (making a fanned airlock and realizing you base won't fit was my biggest frustratin) - so I adapted way before, and now this change does not really affect me in any way. Twig is cheap... its meant to be used as a form of "scaffolding"
Didn't the change stop the fanned door setup? seems like it at least changed your base build a bit lol
yes, I was just using that as an example of when I first ran into the frustration of "start building a base, invest into the build - just to realize it does not fit. Ragequit!" The fanned airlock is no longer possible but that is a completely different discussion. I still make a "layout" of the base I want to build (including adjacent honeycomb) just to make sure it all fits before commiting
Wasn't downing you, it's a good idea and would have helped me from getting frustrated a few times lol was really just messing with you ;)
Welcome to the rust where raider can see mile away where your loot is and there is not going to be any surprises on the way.. Building in rust when you could do wallstack etc crazy stuff was awesome. It was the knowledge of the game what mattered in building and raiding the base with wallstack. I've 1800hours of rust and I think 800hours of it was pure building, to be a better builder, to make base better than any other. Now that is just wasted time... RUST really SUCKS now..
Not everyone plans out their base nor do they want to. The first base i always put up is a conglomeration of shit because of later expanding. And not to mention, they didnt fix the roofs glitches or stability builds so its a bunch of limiting without stamping out the underlined issue. Plenty of ways around it but this needs a fix asap
