https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwgEyjxcfoY It's long as fuck, but it covers all 7 games and their DLC.
I swear this guy is trying to have the exact opposite of my opinions.
I ended up agreeing on most of his viewpoints and they kind of helped make me realize why I liked and disliked some of the games in the series. It also made me far more curious about Primal than I've been up to this point but after sludging through Far Cry 5 I don't think I'm quite ready to step into yet another similar game.
I thought you liked FC2 though.
He was pretty spot on with FC5. If you've visited said thread recently and seen my posts, you can see where the criticism of the story and motivations are very similar. This is the same for anyone that dislikes the ending to the game, and I loved the game itself but the story looking back on it, while engaging is full and full of plot holes. Example: You're brainwashed by Jacob, some how. You're never shown exactly how or what brainwashed you other than a music box and the song "Only You." But you're not shown HOW you're brainwashed. You just are, despite this there's a resistance mission where you unbrainwash a guy, but you mysteriously are still brainwashed. So the final capture sequence with Jacob you run through the same guantlet which has you killing the White Tail Militia leader; Eli. So by the 2nd time most players will realize, "Hey this is the bunker." and he's wanting you to kill Eli, espically when you get to the end and see the guys you're killing now leave bodies behind. Right here would've been a prime opportunity to show the player breaking the conditioning. But you're forced to do it, despite knowing that it's him. Despite knowing that it's real, you cannot be pulled our or saved. You're railroaded into killing someone. The rest of the game forces something like this on you, with really John being the best of the 3, the most developed, the least bullshitted, and fun.
Wow, I never knew about those sex scenes in Far Cry 3. Looks fucked up. Anyway, I really liked the commentary. This dude is seriously great and can give you some insight about games, although he should honestly invest into some proper audio equipement.
Considering he's living out of a van right now, that's probably not in the cards. Plus, that's been a common complaint for years so if it hasn't changed by now, it's not going to.
I think Noah's bad audio setup is kind of part of the charm of his videos.
Wow, you know what, I really like Far Cry 4 a lot more in retrospect. At least, some elements of it's thematic pull and of course, Pagan Min. Had never heard of this dude before so thanks for posting this, I have a lot of videos to binge now.
It's easily the biggest hurdle for getting into his stuff. The setup is the least of his problems, it's the sloppiness of his narration. Instead of recording all of it in one fell swoop he needs to actually edit, do multiple takes and work on his diction.
Nah I'm the vocal unironic 3 defender. I've only played Far Cry 2 for a couple of hours but I somewhat enjoyed it.
So far this guy is the only person I've seen that actually puts himself in the position of one of the people in the worlds. He always has a real world take on the games, or at the very least a different perspective; and I've really come to appreciate it. His L.A Noire video is a real favorite of mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Begu2lXc-AI
"It covers every major game except the console spinoffs between Far Cry 1 and 2" 2 hours and 44 minutes of nope, I swear, so many people act like Instincts and Instincts Evolution just don't exist. (Ignoring Predator if you acknowledge those 2 since it's just an Xbox 360 version of those 2 games)
He mentions them briefly, but it is disappointing that they were a quick gloss-over without even showing footage.
He doesn't own any consoles and plays games on his laptop while living in a Volkswagen bus (IIRC), I think it's safe to say he won't be covering console games anytime soon.
why were they living in a van i've never quite understood that
I mean, if you look at Far Cry 5's drugs, namely the one that makes you run faster, that's SLIGHTLY in the right direction, it's not jumping like 40 feet in the air and running at about 40 - 50 MPH, but it's closer than it has been.
They just wanted to travel, apparently. There's a couple of 90 minute+ long videos on his channel about their journey around the Western US, they're actually surprisingly good if you've got a few hours to kill and nothing else to watch. Some history stuff, a couple of anecdotes and a very quick encounter with a tweaked out dude holding an axe. That plus there's a whole lotta footage of the pretty-ass middles of nowhere that apparently make up most of America's wilderness, too.
Oh alright thats good, i was concerned that they were homeless or something
He's stopped doing the road trip since last winter and because his wife got tired of it after a while, so he's back to living cozily in Seattle. He still plans on taking occasional road trips but they'll be shorter and likely solo. He's also managed to get a few writing gigs besides his youtube channel IIRC, which is also really neat. It's great how he's managed to go from a shitty pizzeria job he hated to actually living a fairly decent life doing what he wants.
This guy needs to really, really re-record lines he flubs. Yeah, I get that he doesn't give a shit about audio quality, but if you stumble a word and take a solid five seconds to rephrase it-- re-record it! It doesn't sound conversational or informal, it sounds incredibly unpolished and irritating. Very irritating to hear him click the mouse to go over a page, too, because it makes it clear he's parroting his script rather than just spooling off his thoughts, which is likely the intention of being unedited.
