Between China and Russia, we've shown that no one really cares if you do a forced land grab because it's not worth the war it would take to stop. Really there's nothing stopping anyone from just taking over huge plots of land it seems unless you step on the toes of a major Ally of someone's. (Sorry Ukraine)
This land does not belong to China.
If it's profitable, and nobody will stop you, there's no reason not to do it, even if it hurts many people. This is the problem with pretty much everything.
