I just...I can't even right now
This battle will never going to ends. Even supporters of this voting reform clearly won battle. Hmmm....
I hope it goes like when the Pennsylvania gop got btfo by the Supreme Court because the decision was made according to the state constitution.
When you would benefit from 2 parties because of people voting by title only, of course you aren't going to support ranked choice
I would really like it if the Republican party stopped acting like cartoon villains.
Wow who would have thought that republicans fear the voters and want to restrict them as much as possible.
Just more clear evidence that the republicans in the house only care for their personal interests.
The Republican Party needs to end so we can finally progress as a society.
Ranked choice in Maine would kill any chance they have of usurping the current independent senator in Maine who caucuses with democrats
Authoritarian party extremely concerned with keeping voter voices suppressed files lawsuit to keep voter voices suppressed, at least seven whole people shocked at their authoritarian move
I don't think I've ever sen an explanation as to why ranked-choice was bad.
Wouldn't it seriously improve voter apathy?
thats why the republicans don't want it
the RCV Act threatens irreparable injury to the Party because it requires that the Party's candidates be selected by a process that directly conflicts with the process adopted in the Party's rules
Damn it's almost like your Party rules were written with FPTP in mind or something
They're....rightfully so....fearing for their careers because of this. They NEED FPTP to stay in their cushy seats, without it the voters gain back the power that they're supposed to have and are told they have every time someone says 'go vote'. And that means these fucks are out.
Yes, but it also means a third party vote isn't thrown away any more, meaning most of those previously lost votes would likely go to the democrats, hurting republican chances.
You can argue that it's bad relative to proportional solutions, if your goal is to have realistic third-parties. Hell, it got implemented in straya iirc because the main two parties were fed up with spoilers.
But it still solves the spoiler effect, which means that you can still vote with both your heart and your brain at the same time, so it is an upgrade.
