So i am editing the venator v3 map and ive been working on it for about 20 hours now lots of work put into it and on he final compile it gives me this error when i am loading into the map on gmod portalnum > numareaportals and i dont know why ive done everything correct and it says that the areaportals dont touch 4 sides but its not true cause i look in game and they are, so please help. You have a leak. Load the "point file" and see where it is. This will be expressed with a fine red distinctive line in your map. Also you have broken brush work in many places but this could also be a leak as leaks can make other problems. Fix your leaks and see where your at. If you have more problems we can help.
i have loaded it and it never points to a actual leak it usually points to entities that are in the map like sound entitiys well i did try my best to look for leaks and im pretty sure i got all of them, but i also put a big brush over the entire venator, wold that fix them at all? (sorry i am newer to mapping)
Thats what its supposed to do. It points from the entity toward the leak. Sometimes the line can go through a brush. If that happens, thats bad. remake that brush if thats the case. Also if you have been holding alt by accident or what ever you may have moved something off grid. Attach a screenshot of the line also try to compile to provide an up to date point file.

Ok firstly fix your area portals. This could be due to your broken area portals though so just try fixing them for now.
how do i fix my area portals like specifically what do i do
Learn how to use them. The area portal brush should only be used in specific cases such as to block off a room so the engine doesn't render the room unless somebody goes through a door or you can set a fading transition for windows. The thing about area portals is, its like sealing off a room and pesurving the air inside for later use. You dont want it to get contaminated so you dont allow for any leaks. If an area portal brush doesnt touch the surrounding brushes that make the window or door, that can lead to an area portal leak and can sometimes cause lots of other issues along with it. yes that's it i know how area portals work and the surrounding area's are being right beside the areaportals its touching them my problem is that for some reason i doesnt recignize that its correct and there is nothing wrong i will send some screenshots
Looking at the wire frame, you have func_detail brushes around the place. The brushes surrounding the door are not func_detail but they dont conceal to the actual base geometry. Extend the brush to the 4 walls.

You may have a leak then. Fix that and you should be good also you may want to configure when the door opens the area portal activates.

Load the point file and find where the red like ends. The red line begins at an entity. Then fix the leak accordingly

the door needs a name, then the areaportal has a keyvalue of "linked door" "<DOOR NAME>"
