Nunes's only apparent function is to obstruct justice by sending privileged investigative materials to Trump's legal team, and using said materials to assault the rule of law and undermine the Department of Justice. Rosenstein's response to this latest nonsense is to essentially dare them to fire him. "The [Department of Justice] will not be extorted."
Of course he didn't read them. The purpose of asking was for them to deny sending them, which would allow Nunes to cry about how the Justice Department isn't sharing their toys, is running a fraudulent investigation, et cetera.
They ask so that they can howl about being rejected.
Stick him on the fire with the rest of them. Nunes is an accomplice in obstruction of justice if I’ve ever seen one.
In what can only be interpreted as a direct response to the obstructive efforts of the Trump administration, including his congressional propagandists like Nunes, DAG Rosenstein delivered a pretty dang powerful speech yesterday. He praises the separation of powers inherent in our constitution, building the simple case that that neither he nor the Department of Justice are beholden to the whims of the President or Congress, and have the full right to withhold investigative materials when their release could harm the interests of the nation and/or the application of justice.
Basically, "nobody is above the law."
