• Servers' spoofing player count.

These are the most popular Rust servers right now, and they're all Russian. I joined several of them and they don't have anywhere near max player counts; its total bullshit. Why hasn't this been fixed yet? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1810/dd8f3394-0f29-42b7-9f0e-8cd960984ec4/1.png
Unless they are Official servers it has nothing to do with Facepunch, If you dont like them dont play on them, its as simple as that With over 4 thousand servers to choose from I dont see the problem
This has been an ongoing problem for years, from the moment the dedicated server got out into the wild. Messing with your server to have it show up in the ranking where it shouldn't via spoofing is grounds for having your server's IP permanently banned from the server list. However, the devs do not have the time to comb through the server list and ban people every single day, so don't expect instant fixes. Also servers usually pop back up on other hosts to continue screwing with the server listing, on new IPs, so it's a cat and mouse game.
Honestly, they probably don't care because it makes their game seem more populated than it really is. When you take away the huge majority of dead servers, and servers from countries other than North America, you pretty much have a couple dozen heavily populated servers and that's all. Rust isn't that popular of a game to be honest and I never really expect it to be. So like I said, they don't give a shit because it makes them look good.

The spoofed server counts do not contribute towards player numbers on the Steam charts, only Steam clients running the game do. Rust is the #11 most-active game on Steam at this very moment. If you take away the three games above it that are F2P, Rust lands in #8. How do those numbers square away with your idea that the devs tolerate and allow Russians spoofing their server playercounts because it makes Rust look like it isn't dead, when Rust objectively isn't fucking dead and has never been close to dead. Seems like there might be a different explanation, like the devs have more important things to do than play whack-a-mole with Ivan the shitty server admin from Yekaterinberg all day.
Well, yeah. Of course the numbers seem bad when you apparently can only access non VAC/EAC servers. A couple of dozen is more of those then I expected to hear existed.
Linking steam games like steam is the only GAMING platform. Lets not even get the fortnite population on here, amongst other games that are far more popular than even the top steam game. You're not thinking with portals. I can also gurantee half the people on that game are just AFK with a jump bot to prevent getting logged out while crafting for hours upon hours. Unless youre a modded server noob.
What is this diarrhea? Nothing you typed made any sense. No one is using jump bots to raise their server numbers...wht
What? Can you read? I said they're AFK crafting, I didn't say they were in game using bots to raise numbers. What the fuck? How do you even come to that conclusion?
Dude...you make my brain hurt
