Concern aside, I wonder just how they managed to leave out such a huge number of calls/texts when they were doing it in last year. While the NSA is goofy here its worth mentioning they aren't logging the content, so it might have legitimate investigative use as long as they don't try to preempt anything with the data.
Frankly, a world without surveillance is gonna seem impossible in the future, and we pretty much have to accept it.
Recently they are looking to implement a face detection system in Singapore, which most of us are pretty much just unable to prevent.
I'm sure many have issues with it, but its a lost cause, surveillance had been going on for years, and has it stopped since the Edward Snowden days? No, and its going to work in this way:
Someone leaks about govt/company tapping into private conversations
Country apologizes, pledges to punish those involved and reform (usually including whistleblower)
News dies down, resume surveillance.
Rinse and repeat
Life is turning into Mirror's Edge. Wouldn't surprise me if illegal couriers carrying information become a thing in the near future.
