Barry who used to be part of Game Grumps is now doing this as a series, thought people would like to see it.
Good video, I enjoyed it a lot.
It kinda feels like a Sequelitis spiritual successor.
I'll repost what I said in the comments:
I agree with everything he said about Galaxy, but I was surprised about his praise of Odyssey at the end. Sure, it did exploration better, but it didn't merge exploration AND platforming together at all.
He said it himself, Odyssey's Kingdoms are big hubs that host small course clear challenges. But it could be so much more! In Mario 64 you were exploring levels AND platforming. You didn't need to get into a Warp Pipe to get your challenge! In Odyssey you're either exploring or doing course clear challenges. It's extremely rare you're doing both.
Also, Odyssey made coins a bit more meaningful, yet somehow made Moons matter less. Exploring and finding a hard to reach hiding spot grants you the same reward as picking up the Moons that are just floating there in the way. Most Moons are about as hard and rewarding to get as the Kingdom-specific coins.
Tbh I feel like it'd be amazing if Nintendo would eventually release a Mario super-pack with all the classic Mario games
It'd be bomb as fuck to at least play a little of all the other Mario's and see how they compare with one another. Galaxy and Sunshine have a pretty huge advantage of just being solid games with good gimmicks.
Damn this is a masterclass video. Amazing editing and well articulated points.
But who are these Lumas?!
Good video.
