Socotra, basically real world Morrowind. https://www.travelthewholeworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Yemen-Socotra-Dragon-Tree-Ridge.jpg https://www.wordsinthebucket.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/socotra-tree1-930x445.jpg http://www.ancient-origins.net/sites/default/files/field/image/Lost-World-of-Socotra.jpg Strange cause i was thinking about this the other day. "What about that Yemen island..."
also Socotra was one of the first Christian places on Earth, Christianizing in 52 AD and becoming followers of the Nestorian church but it's now majority Muslim. The people there also have their own language unrelated to Arabic
Seems like a land grab akin to Crimea, except without the whole fake voting thing.
It's a close by port.
Yeah but is it in so much danger that they need to occupy Yemen soil in order to protect it?
Obviously the UAE thought so.
Cool Well they also officially known as Church of the East until 1552 as they merged as Chaldean Catholic Church. But their have remaining Nestorian resistance within church thus cause splinted as Assyrian Church of the East decades later and they do still exist as most all members are ethically Assyrians.
Do they? Or is that their excuse?
We're not privy to the inside of the UAE government, we can only speculate the true goal.
They occupied an island belonging to a country they are at war with and raised their flag over local government buildings. It's pretty clear what their intentions are.
it's pretty clear that they will get away with it too - watch, as it get tiny coverage and is swept under the rug in next month. Heck, even in Russian media there is only few reports bout that deal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cSIAT36dho So here's resisting protesters of demanding UAE to leave the island.
