Black also broke some news during their set: The follow-up to their 2006 film, “The Pick of Destiny,” will be out in October.
“I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out,” he said.
Tenacious D: The Bong of Destiny?
I mean that's cool for them, but when was the last time anyone even thought about Jack Black? I guess for a brief stint thanks to Jumanji? And then like Tropic Thunder before that?
Vape of Destiny
Nowadays I find Tenacious D edgy and obnoxious, but I enjoy it all the same. I just can't hate it. It was such a big part of my teenage years, really pushed me to get into music more, and is probably one of the reasons I learned to play the guitar. If a sequel helps inspire more people, I'm all for it. Doesn't have to be the greatest film in the world, it can just be a tribute
I imagine it's going to be a pretty fun little film
I enjoyed TPOD so I'll probably get this on DVD
If they're doing the soundtrack again then it's going to be awesome for sure
Still frequently sing songs from the pick of destiny while drunk with friends. Can't wait for the next movie.
This feels so random, but fuck I loved the first movie
I loved the first movie but this feels way too late. Just let the franchise rest. Not everything needs to be revived-- it's not like the old things are any less good.
Interesting they are making a sequel considering that the first was a box office flop.
Still excited regardless.

The Fenix is Rizing again.
I'm kind of confused by all the skepticism here, as if the movie was several decades ago and Jack Black is some washed up old fogie; I'm pretty sure as long as they have the same amount of creative control as they did before we should expect something just as good as before.
They gathered a lot of pop-culture hype after the movie, so I guess they're capitalizing on their modern "Wayne's World" status.
I dont really see how Tenacious D are edgy, its fairly innocent, harmless humour.
oh the dragon's balls were blazing as I stepped into his cave
then I sliced his fucking cockles with a long and shining blade
twas I who fucked the dragon fuckali sing fuckaloo
and if you try to fuck with me then I shall fuck you too
(it's not "dark" edgy it's just regular teenage edgy)

Well, to be fair, that was the young JB singing that song, so no wonder it's "regular teenage edgy"
Afaik, the album The Pick of Destiny was a soundtrack for the movie and Jack Black went from a fat edgy teen who spent most of his teenage years travelling across America trying to find Hollywood to a fat edgy adult.
Thats the joke though, Jack Blacks a lilbkid who is trying to act like a cool rockstar but just comes of as silly. Both grown up Jack Black and Kyle are imature manchild losers who arent even that good musicians. The joke isnt "haha, edy sing" the joke us that they are silly losers.
I wonder if Dave Grohl will be playing the Devil again or I hope he at least will be making an appearance in the new movie.
If you think they're edgy now then they've always been edgy, even if that word is overused and annoying.
chill, dude. yeah they've always been edgy, 'classico' is literally singing about cock sucking to the sound of beethoven and bach. i was just trying to explain a specific way they don't appeal to me like they used to. i get the feeling the word "edgy" is considered way worse on the internet than elsewhere
I'm really surprised they're making another movie after how bad the movie was received. They even made a documentary about it:

A lot of beloved movies aren't Emmy-award winners, sometimes they just gotta be cult favorites
I think puerile is a better word than edgy. Tenacious D isn't really trying to be more than it is, it's a silly rock stoner comedy for silly rock stoners. Nothing more, nothing less.
And Classico is funny because of the juxtaposition between "classy" classical music and immature lyrics, especially since Kyle is trying to style for an audience by playing technical music while Jack Black just butts in with his dumb lyrics. :v
I'm pretty sure that was the point, man. The character was a young teenager when he sang that song.
I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening
Sounds like it will probs end up on Netflix or an equivalent

Anyway, I am expecting Low Hanging' Fruit level of quality soundtrack in the new movie
