Who would've thunk that electing a racist, white supremacy, misogynist, and narcissistic enabling arsehole could lead to this.
It's laughable that politicians think this sort of ideology is sustainable
I see no reason to think that Trump voters have learned anything. They still support the same vile ideas and any candidate that will push them. All that's changed is they don't believe in Trump to carry those beliefs to fruition.
Don't let optimistic talk like this stop you from voting.
In Virginia we've got a caricature artist's rendition of a human cockroach named Corey Stewart who keeps running for shit and losing. He pulls these dumbass stunts like when he went ot the VA state house steps (After losing an election for Republican Nomination for Governor) and called VA State reps "flaccid" for bending on medicaid or something. VA Republicans, tired of this Trump-wannabe horseshit, had this to say:
“Right now, I’m done with fake politicians,” Davis, a former lieutenant governor candidate, said. “I’m done with Minnesotans who pretend to be Southern gentlemen.
“I’m done with phonies who think they’re Donald Trump because they can tweet.”
Davis spoke on the civility of the discussion around Medicaid and said it was done “The Virginia Way.”
“Yesterday’s (Medicaid) debate lived up to that in a process that is emotionally charged and the temptation to inflame is great,” Davis said. “I am proud to be associated with this body.
“The same can’t be said for a certain political demagogue who stood on Capitol grounds hawking his candidacy and hurling personal insults at members of this body armed with toilet paper – although probably a useful item to have close for the political rhetoric he was throwing around.”
Corey Stewart is running for Republican nomination for Senate in VA and I predict he will ose
Doesn't matter what Trump voters think. Trump's extreme right ideology is very unappealing to massive amounts of Americans and causing them to go to the polls.
GOP thinks it can still just get by with the white vote, but minorities are becoming a very powerful voting bloc. Despite winning over 63% of the white vote, something which would have catapulted any candidate into office previously, Roy Moore still lost because of the sudden out pour of black women.
But it's not only minorities. White women are slowly going Democrat too and once they lose that group GOP are even more fucked, not to mention moderates are fleeing them by the truck load.
If the dems manage to consistently mobilize the southern black vote, the gop is completely fucked and will never have power again.
I mean Roy More was also exceptionally terrible so that sort of kept a lot of would-be republican voters stay at home.
He kept moderates at home. He was IMMENSELY popular with the religious right folk, to Trump supporters all the stuff in the news was fake.
Not to mention, Trumpian candidates are all exceptionally terrible, Trump himself being just as bad as Roy. Which is why they will lose in the end.
Dont be silly! Thats what gerrymandering is for ya dummy.
I live in rural Ohio and i've noticed the opposite effect - i've never seen conservatives, of the moderate level or "trumpians", this fired up for a midterm in my entire life
I'm not seeing the enthusiasm and data suggests a shrinking enthusiasm gap while more people are becoming skeptical of the mueller investigation. Trump's approval rating has risen a bit too.
We're probably more polarized than ever as well
Funnily enough, the only thing that could save the republican party from a complete disaster at this point is implementing some kind of preferential voting, which I don't think neither party ever wanted to consider.
I think tomorrow's primary is going to be really interesting.

They have nobody to blame but themselves, and the party is only going to drift further and further to the extreme right. They've spent years doing everything in their power to skew the voting power in favor of a handful of indoctrinated die hard far right Republican strongholds that would rather die than vote for a filthy Democrap and they've spent the same amount of time constantly bombarding them with propaganda to make sure it stays that way and now it's all looping back around to bite them in the ass
They've spent so long telling white conservative Christian Americans that they're under attack and that it's those evil libs and those crafty Dumbocraps who are doing it, that they're coming for your guns, they're gonna force your daughters to marry brown people and force you to convert to Muslamism and they're going to tax you into the dirt to let some lazy immigrant live like a king off of welfare and on and on and on. FIlling their heads with fear and danger and convincing them that it's the heroic, pure hearted Republican party that can save them from the enemy
The post Tea Party GOP are virtually fascists. They brought this on themselves.
The worst part is, it's actually working out for them.
I actually wonder how well it might potentially work if the Democrats start playing the patriotism card, portray the GOP's anti-democratic activities as 'un-American', and try and stir up some patriotic pride to garner more votes. I'm not exactly boots on the ground, but with how fiercely and openly the GOP has been setting itself against the interests of the American people in favour of corporatism, it might just have positive results.
Issue is it's not just about being "un-American". Many of Trump's supporters, at least those that remain, are also God-fearing wackos, so unless the democrats could somehow convince them
that wjat Trump and the GOP is doing goes against God, they wouldn't get far. But if they could convince them, you'd still have the same problem: a bunch of God-fearing nationalists who
demands closed borders, abortions to be illegal, Muslims to be banned, and so on.
I'll do my best over here in the urban areas of Ohio to try and help balance that out. I hope I'll be met with swarms of folk of mind like my own when I hit the voting booths this coming election.
