I remember an incident not too long ago where a mob raped a girl, got fined, then got pissed and burnt her alive. God, I hope there'll be some kind of cultural revolution in India, shit like this shouldn't be happening in 2'000.
Yes, I, too remember two days ago. This article is an unfortunate follow-up of that, hence the "second such incident". It takes place in the same state. That being said, any such cultural revolution is a long time coming. Even if more progressive ways of thinking take strong route in the youth, the old ways of thinking still have to die out with the existing generations before the new thought can truly take over. That is, of course, for a natural, peaceful revolution. There are ways to force it, but those tend to not work out so well.
In the latest case in Jharkhand, the girl is undergoing treatment in hospital after suffering 95% burn injuries, police told BBC Hindi's Ravi Prakash. Holy christ, didn't think that is even survivable.
Objectively speaking, and I know this is gonna sound horrible, but do you even want to survive that? She's mutilated beyond belief and will be in pain for the rest of her life.
It's totally survivable, and it doesn't even say how badly she was burned on that 95%. 95% isn't literally 95% of the tissue either, afaik if you get small burns on a specific area it can count for a large %, especially the torso.
95% burns is common in any kind of burning situation, what matters is the thickness of the burns.
Here's to hoping she survives to make something of a life for herself. She could become a flamethrower-themed vigilante and go and smoke those inhuman fucks.
It's horrendous but very surviveable provided infection doesn't set in. Phan Thi Kim Phuc, famously known as the "Napalm Girl", suffered similar horrendous burns and is now living relatively healthily. The Staff Sergeant who got tangled in his ropes during the Iranian Embassy siege suffered 80% burns and was able to complete his mission before being hospitalized. My understanding is that the % can sometimes dictate the thickness of the burn, but this article is worded weirdly and incorrectly so I can make no real judgement as to her current state. Depending on how he lit her on fire she might be pretty lucky and it might have been something that burns off quickly. Not that it's much consolation for something as heinous as this.

Ah, thanks, it's related to the sheer surface area. Still not a lot to go on-- could be anything from scalding to full-on fourth degree (yeah.) burns. Still horrible.
