Comcast is planning a $60 billion all-cash bid to top Walt Disney on its deal to acquire most of Twenty-First Century Fox's assets, if the U.S. government approves AT&T's acquisition of Time Warner, according to people familiar with the matter.
The bid would top Disney's offer of $52 billion.
Comcast also plans to acquire 100 percent of U.K. satellite broadcaster Sky as part of an improved all-cash bid. If Disney gets into a bidding war with Comcast, then Comcast's bid for all of Sky and Fox could get close to $100 billion, these people said.
However, if the government shoots down AT&T-Time Warner, Comcast does not plan to bid.
Capitalism pls stop
No fuck off, Comcast is much more evil than Disney
Disney can, and most likely will, beat you Comcast. You up your bid, they'll simply up theirs more.
Can we just fuck off with all the mergers? If anything we need to start breaking them apart like we did with Ma Bell.
Corporations can do whatever the fuck they want in post-2000s America
its just baffling how far right the discourse has shifted.
Reagan, fucking Ronald Reagan, broke up the giant telecom companies of the day in the 80s. Modern conservatism isn’t even willing to think about that.
Weve lost the plot of the novel now
I primarily blame the "republican revolution" and Newt Gingrich
As Ross Scott once pointed out, we're just living the backstory of Deus Ex now.
Consolidation and compartmentalization of labor.
Uncle Ted was right on the fucking mark.
Stahp. Fucking at&t killed direct tv and they better not start on spectrum.
Picus Media when?
Spectrum shouldn't be in danger from AT&T as they are owned by Time Warner Cable rather than Time warner Inc if I recall correctly. Infact AT&T service technicians came to my neighborhood trying to get people to sign contracts for the fiber service, they were trying to get us to leave spectrum for it (but my family knows better than to accept it).
Yeah spectrum seems to be the better option right now with no contract and all. They tried to butter us up too to leave and return to direct tv with discounts and gift cards...for one year then raise the price on the second.
Late stage capitalism is only going to get weirder and wilder
