https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-ireland-population-majority-remain-eu-poll-border-solution-theresa-may-latest-a8340941.html Brexiteers had suggested Ireland might follow Britain in leaving the EU Support for Ireland remaining in the European Union has reached near-unanimous levels in the Republic, with a solution to the Brexit border problem looking further off than ever. A full 92 per cent of the Irish population now support staying in the EU, according to a new survey by pollsters Red C, with just 7 per cent supporting a theoretical “Irexit” and 1 per cent saying they don’t know. The findings are likely to disappoint British Brexiteers, some of whom have suggested Ireland might follow Britain’s march towards the exit door – and that Irish departure could be a way of solving the border question currently plaguing Brexit talks. Among those aged 18-24 a full 97 per cent support EU membership, the highest figure of any cohort, while Dubliners are 96 per cent in favour. The lowest regional support is in the Connaught/Ulster statistical region, at 89 per cent – still an overwhelming figure.   Smaller majorities of people supported Ireland contributing more to the EU budget and joining in a future EU defence and security union. Some next level logic right there - "We don't want to come up with border solution, so you (Ireland) should just exit EU as well.
10 months left and shit is just not looking good at all for the UK.
Was there ever any question about this?
This truly was one of the dumbest mistakes we, the UK has made.
tbh it feels that brexit only deterred any other country to do it, other than that - there seem to be very little positives about it.
smh apparently IRELAND doesn't want to revive the Empire, I can't believe it
An unfortunate fact about the boundless curiosity and optimism of human nature is that the only way many of us will learn not to stick a knife in the outlet is to see someone else do it, or do it ourselves. So good on Britain for taking that jump for everybody else.
"Ireland should brexit because we can't come up with anything." this thought train couldn't be more british if it was served up with a side of tea and biscuits by the queen herself
But admit we made a mistake? Never!
You would think we developed ways to avoid that, I think they are called experts. Oh right, screw those, they gotta see brexit for them self.
I wonder if Scotland and Ireland will actually stay with the EU and let the UK die leaving Wales and England
Scotland won't be able to without declaring its own independence which is very unlikely even now. And you won't see Northern Ireland rejoin the Republic seeing as the Unionist party are currently in power.
Unsure, I think a second referendum vote could very well succeed
Brexit is so bad ireland might reunite
I don't think I'd ever stop laughing.
you know those times when your parents said "If X jumped off a bridge, would you?" and you're supposed to answer no? in this scenario NI is supposed to say yes according to the government.
Noy surprising, but triply entertaining given that "ireland could brexit" was one of the absolute horseshit lies that boilrig was peddling on here a few months ago
Well this is somewhat relieving considering I have seen posters around the place for meetings on Irexit. Most retards in this country who support that idea are apparently male, British expats according to a thing I saw on twitter a few months back. So I'm genuinely glad to see the eejits are few and far between amongst the population.
