Half a million isn't very much in a country of 80 million
This is first in while, Some viable resistance of against Sultan wannabe.
Ah yes, the all-powerful resistance of social media virtue signalling, by .6% of the population...
Are you really unintentionally try defending an Islamist dictator snowflake who have power in Turkey since 2001.
No I don't think he is.
Remember that there is possibly a big penalty for those people. Turkey had that coup attempt not long ago. It's more than slacktivism.
No, it's not. It is exactly slacktivism and it's a perfect example of one of the dangers posed towards democracy because of social media. The odds of any penalty for these people is slim to none.
Then what do you say they should do?
If you expect me to have the answer to bringing down a totalitarian regime in a continent I don't live in, don't know what to tell you. I'm just saying praising "actions" like this is exactly the lazy armchair activism that leads to these kinds of oppressive societies in the first place.
Not solutions, just what actions would you suggest?
Actual demonstrations / rallies of political protest.
Idiot cull?
Oh, so from the comfort of your American home, you're deriding their political actions and instead think they should rush their lives. Cool
Next on the headlines: Erdogan declares all social media banned, claims its used for terrorism
It had reached 1.7M around midnight I think. Also, erdotrolls started tweeting out "Continue" as some sorta counter-protest with their bots which resulted in Twitter removing the said tweets :V
Those were Erdogan supporters who went out in protest of the coup attempt. It's pretty worrying that his support base is fanatical enough to go out in support of him even with the threat of getting blasted by a 20mm cannon to be honest.
Not really, when despite how shitty of a person he is, he's still the democratically elected official as oppose to a military junta. If the US military tried a coup against Trump, I would not support it no matter how much a loath that dipshit in office.
what is it with tinpot dictators making grand empty promises to step aside if the population isn't satisfied to some arbitrary amount?
