The church said the move aims to shift focus to "spiritual, social, physical and intellectual goals outlined by the church."But it comes as the church expressed reservations about the Boy Scouts' decision to allow gay and transgender troop leaders.
I remember seeing that penn & teller BS with the scout leader who was removed from the position after a ton of year for coming out gay.
good fucking riddance.
The Mormon church must be in two minds about this: on one hand, they no longer have to include trans and gay people, but on the other hand, I imagine some of the Mormon priests are going to be very unhappy to see children go...
That's just wrong.
Fuckin' hilarious, but fuckin' wrong.
Any religion founded in the U.S. is either a scamhouse or people trying to sway the sheep to their scamhouse with a different set of wacky rules. Fuck man at least Catholicism and orthodoxy helped people through hard times when wealth inequality was so bad 90% of the population was serfs but Scientologists, Mormons, and pentacoastalism to name the big ones are driven by bullshit, profit and political gain with helping the sheep at the bottom of the list that's used as a coaster.
This probably has to do with the Scouts trying to be more inclusive to women, the Mormons are incredibly sexist still and likely got pissed about that.
Intellectual and spiritual goals, what a riot. Because when I think intellectual I think of purely subjective daydreaming about an inevident deity and his desires.
Plus depending on what particular group of Mormons you're talking about, there's the magic underwear thing.
Good. The mormon church has had their religious bullshit sunk in deep in the BSA for far too long.
What type of Christian Orthodoxy is most help for poor in US? Eastern Orthodoxy or (Miaphysite) Oriental Orthodoxy?
I got gold because I joked about religious people being pedos lmao
I was hoping that it was because the Boy Scouts shouldn't be affiliated with religion, but turns out it's just the church hanging on to their 19th century beliefs.
I mean hey a win is a win.
oh no theology concerning the holy trinity... I'm staying out of this one man.
There are plenty of American religions that aren't scum.
Which ones?
Trick question!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_religious_movements_that_began_in_the_United_States
There are dozens of sects and religions founded in America, more than even listed on that page. Saying "All American founded religions are really bad" is just painting such a wide brush it's crazy.
every single religion there that isn't born in Europe and raised in the U.S (baptists, lutherans, Methodists, mennonites, etc ). was invented by a fucking loon or someone with major political issues and a warped view of the world, the Church of divine science as listed were loonies who believed in "spiritual science", the black theology church was at its core a divisive political statement (I argue this from the point that churches should promote unity through peace and love for your fellow man), Mount sinai is pentacoastal which I have already expressed distaste for, Millerites who thought the world would end in 1844, jehovas witnesses need no introduction... etc.
I blew through half of that wikipedia list and as said, if it wasn't born in Europe and raised in the U.S., it was founded by a loon trying to sucker people out of money.
But thats not answering my question
What American born religion applies? Which one doesn't have wacky rules or aren't scams?
I don't care what theology the two secondary major denominations believe, I only wants what two denominations you referring in The United States.
Really? You're the one claiming that every single religion formed in the Eastern Hemisphere is insanity but I'm the one who has to provide the proof? Even past that, name me a religion that doesn't have 'wacky rules', because as a Roman Catholic, they all certainly do.
Have you even heard of half the sects on that list? How about the CBF, PNBC and AB which are just moderate and liberal Baptists forming a sect away from the main church. Hell, Baptism in general is hardly that cooky, the main belief holding it all together is people should be old enough to understand what they're doing when they are baptized.
Universalists just believe that everyone is God's children and won't go to hell, and any punishments for sin are remedial and to reform people into better beings.
The Original Church of God was just founded by Baptists who believe in Christian Perfection.
I dunno if Universalist Unitarians count, and I've only met a scant few but it seems like a pretty inoffensive world view to me, when you read their main tenants.
Baptism is an English thing that came to the US. I keep stressing this.
I say you give the BSA ~5-10 years and it will be all but dead. All the people being appeased by these decisions aren't the kinds of people in Boy Scouts in the first place.
Congrats, that's a solid one of the religions I said.
i forgot that there's literally no such thing as gay or transgendered people that like the outdoors
There are not nearly enough gay and transgender people to keep the Boy Scouts running. They're already going to lose ~18.5% of their total members from the Mormon church leaving, and they've been declining for years. You can deny it all you want, but conservative religious people have traditionally been the mainstay of the boyscouts.
Uh, you mean the kids of people who aren't in Boy Scouts on account of not being let in?
No? There are plenty of liberal parents of boys who would have had no problem joining, but didn't.
I left the boy scouts because my leader was agonizingly catholic and didn't put much of a value on the actual interesting bit (aka doing stuff).
Except not really, even my family wouldn't touch the boyscouts with a 10 foot pole after seeing its basically a Mormon front. That goes with most of the people in highschool whenever we talked about it "did you join the boyscouts?" "nah my parents didn't like the religious aspect".
