As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I seriously tell anybody who will listen about meeting James Doohan as kid and how he inspired me to be a better person as an adult. Working on the Star Trek: Bridge Crew The Next Generation DLC was a dream come true. It was also a bit daunting to be working on something so many people are so deeply passionate about.
We added the Enterprise (NCC-1701D) bridge and rebalanced our game to accommodate its new capabilities, we replaced the engineering position with a new role called “Operations” on the 1701D bridge (it’s now my personal favorite position) which focuses on crew management and maximizing ship buffs, we’ve added Romulans, we’ve put in the Borg, created TNG-era uniforms, gave players the ability to make their avatars Soong-type androids, put in new shield modulation and precision phaser fire mechanics, took a pass through our play spaces so that more solar systems will be utilized by Ongoing Voyages (our randomized Starfleet mission generator), and added two new Ongoing Voyages (“Resistance” and “Patrol”) complete with new voice work and unique mission mechanics. Oh, and we also threw in some fan favorites such as a fully functional Planet Killer, complete with deadly anti-proton beam.
So yeah, we’re adding a lot, and we think fans (old and new) are going to really have a great time playing through it all. A lot of very talented and smart people worked very hard on this, and I couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished.

Words can not describe how happy I am about this!
This looks so much fun. God I wish I could afford VR.
Would love to have the defiant as an option.
Its getting far cheaper at the entry level as the next gen rolls out. Keep your eye out for first-gen vives hitting eBay for cheap.
I started to buy a used Vive but my laptop proooobably couldn't handle VR anyway. Maybe in simpler games but not anything high fidelity. I would have to upgrade and my lifestyle basically has me locked to a laptop, so it'd be very expensive to move to a system that can handle it.
I'm in the same boat, using a laptop as my mainstay computer means that it's not beefy enough for VR, and I'm not in the position (financially or lifestyle-wise) to upgrade to a desktop that could handle it.
Ah, dang, yeah, that'd stop you.
An external gpu would also work but those aren't exactly cheap either. Why does cool shit have to be so expensive?
edit:
Whatever you do, don't fall for the PSVR meme.
They'll probs save that for a DS9 Expansion.
Hopefully we get one from every era, I'd love to command an Intrepid Class Starship!
TNG is the best show of the Treks, followed by TOS. the rest are trash, including star trek: discovery. especially STD infact. what a shitshow.
Looks like someone needs to watch Deep Space Nine.
DS9 has like less than 10 good episodes whereas TNG is almost entirely great. it certainly has some shitty episodes, I.E Sub Rosa or Shades of Grey, but it keeps a mostly even standard.
DS9 is different Trek, might be the furthest away from Roddenberry's vision (haven't seen Discovery) but it's damn good.
Dude, no.
I mean STD is crap I can't disagree with you there, but no.
I'd love to have this game, and my friends have it, too. Unfortunately, I just don't see the latter happening, due to friends' financial situations.
Also, is it just me, or do those character heads look almost ripped out of Bioshock: Infinite?

The similarities in art style are uncanny.
In it's earlier seasons not really, but yeah with the Dominion war.
The later seasons (particularly In the Pale Moonlight and the Section 31 stuff) really went against Roddenberry's vision of a better humanity (though that was deconstructed as far back as TOS tbh)
I mean, tbf, we sort of had a lot of crappy humans in TNG too.
The various admirals who practically did all sort of shitty things, like that one guy who went against the treaty of algeron to develop cloaking devices for the Federation.
TNG had a lot of development issues with writers clashing with Roddenberry's idea of humanity. The later seasons and DS9 took a more realistic darker approach to a perfect humanity after Roddenberry left.
STD is just inconsistent and weird when it comes to this.
Yes that is a white dude.
Seriously though, they look nothing alike lol, the dude on the left has a way more squished nose, and a vegeta ass receding hairline
I should have clarified that I was talking about the way the hair is done.
I apologize for the miscommunication. I have only ever seen the "clay-like sculpted and painted hair" art-style on the Bioshock Infinite models.
Fuck I need a VR headset.
They removed the VR requirement for this game months ago
Discovery got a lot better as it went on. It's still not good Star Trek, but I have hope it'll turn itself around in the second season.
Plus Roger C. Carmel was fantastic as Harry Mudd.
So...when the Borg spawn in, do you just lose? :<
It's not really worth it if you don't own a headset though, it loses a huge part of the magic.
so the redshirts up front have a 99% chance to die, just like the show right?
More yellow shirts died in TNG than Red shirts.
Red Shirts dying is a TOS thing.
The article explains it
I can't wait to be Worf so that no online listens to my suggestions
