The midwest is not where I would have expected this. Good on them!
Ohio isn't really in the midwest. They're more like in the void between the east and midwest, which includes Indiana and mitten Michigan.
Ohio is closely balanced in terms of voter affiliation between dems and reps, why Ohio is a very valued state in presidential elections. Whoever wins Ohio usually wins the election.
its not a perfect bill, I'd rather it have been more ironclad but its legacy might just be laying out that partisan gerrymandering is illegal, hopefully blatantly gerrymandered maps get challenged after this
