Aaaah, that truly empty-and-dead-world feeling. This is what I always wanted from zombie games, but it never really felt quite too convincing for some reason. This looks like they did a decent job for sure.
These trailers are great and all, but its coming out in fall and we've yet to see any gameplay. I love the atmosphere of TWD series but I am reserving any hype until I see what the game looks like.
Good to see Overkill using an engine that can do facial animations. Haven't kept up at all with OTWD even though I enjoy Payday
I just want an amazing weather system/weather effects in a survival rpg, so I hope the focus on rain in this trailer is a sign of that. Way too few games bother adding dynamic weather to begin with, and even fewer do it well...
It's sad that most of the time they just don't truly do the feeling of 'weather' justice having thunder and lightning that really feels like it has impact is amazing
Oh is this in-engine?
Witcher 3 did it perfectly You can hear the leaves rustling, the trees groaning as they sway in the wind
Video description says cinematic trailer, but with graphics these days I can't tell whether it's in engine or not. In engine footage, though I'm not sure what engine, Payday 3 will use Unreal with the Valhalla plugin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2navr599NWM
He used the teddy bear to suppress the sound
Certain maps in bf4 and the weather system in 1 is great. Bf4's island map with the hurricane that blows through is amazing, you cant hear a damn thing over the wind and rain. 1's rain would roll in and cause the ground to become muddy, causing mud to splash on your guns. Then jumping into water or letting the rain hit the gun would wash it off over time. Theres so few games that land weather effects, and its sad to see most AAA games not have any weather at all.
It's funny how Left 4 Dead 2 nailed this almost 9 years ago
That is assuming the actual game doesn't do the same shit Payday 2 ends up doing where there's more enemies on screen than there's boots in the national guard.
That's because the only way they can make the game hard without improving the ai quality is giant masses of enemies. The spawn limit when the game came out on the highest difficulty was 24, and it's now 108.
I gotta be honest, i dont have much hope that this game will be anything like the trailers are making it feel. These are absolutely fantastic trailers, but 505/Starbreeze, thats what they do. They are REALLY good at marketing thier games and make these grand fantastic trailers that are well made, written, and acted out but then the games exude grind. I'm definitely interested in the game, but i also know the game the devs play.
Didn't they say its similar to L4D Bet you this great feeling of quiet yet fear will vanish
It's an Overkill game, all they do is 4 player coop like Left 4 Dead
They're not in-engine. These are out-of-engine cinematics rendered in something like VRay (I don't know for sure what engine specifically). They're being made by a company called Goodbye Kansas, formerly known as "Bläck".
Do we know what the game is even gonna be like? Because it seems like it's being marketed as a moody single-player campaign but it's Overkill so it's a coop thing then? I'm much more interested in the former rather than the latter.
We'll probably get some gameplay at this years e3. Kinda weird that the only gameplay we've seen is from 3 years ago.
If its a coop thing I'd assume this guy is one of the player characters and we'd probably see other character trailers down the line.
Given the tone from the trailers so far I'd prefer a moody single-player or something more subtle as well. But as someone who loves Left 4 Dead and wants a new game based around a similar premise, I wouldn't mind a fun zombie co-op romp like it as well. Vermintide 2 is pretty good but I do miss the urban zombie apocalypse setting and focus on guns. I just hope this won't suffer the same messy post-development of Payday 2 at least.
Revolvers don't work this way.
It was almost good and then there was a huge swarm of zombies for 0 reason whatsoever.
So are we going to see Jewelry Store somewhere?
You mean the meals-on-wheels VR experience? Different engine, and it was made pretty much to showcase the StarVR headset.
Zombie Assault in Progress
kill the zombie captain to end the assualt
That's not how a revolver works. The gap between the cylinder and the frame of the gun allows sound to escape completely negating the point of a suppressor of any kind. There is the M1895 Nagant Revolver that DOES work with a suppressor but the gun he's using in this trailer isn't that.
Is it just me or has most zombie games released had a slow paced CGI trailer that has the slow paced horror mood everyone has been clamoring for. Fast-foward to the actual release and it's always either modified electrical flame ice crowbars and mowing down zombie hordes, or the usual tactical scope scavenger hunt where humans are the real enemy. I mean, i'd love to give them the benefit of the doubt but in my head this is totally going to play out as Horde mode Payday.
