MapleStory2 MapleStory2 is a 3D game with a block-based world similar to MineCraft. Customization is a key feature, allowing you to change the visual design of your player and many game elements such as items. You will be able to create your own house, dungeons and more. The original MapleStory and MapleStory2 will be separate games, therefore your players and progress cannot be transferred over. Furthermore, Nexon will continue to maintain and run both at the same time, so you will not lose anything once MapleStory2 launches. MapleStory2 is being developed by Nsquare, the joint development studio formed by Nexon and NCsoft. MapleStory 2 will be released in Korea on July 7th 2015 at 7PM KST (10:00 UTC+0). MAPLESTORY2 NOTES Avoid buying user created cosmetics, especially if item use copyrighted material TL;DR: Don’t buy things that violate the copyright rule. In the Merit shop, the second tab (디자이너 샵) is user created cosmetics. I have looked through the market, and most (if not all) violate Nexon’s rule stating no copyrighted material or designs can be used on items. I know that BMO backpack looks awesome. But buying items that violate copyright rule is risky, since Nexon may not refund your Merits (because you just endorsed a copyright violation). So if you plan on spending Merit (which is basically cash), use it on Nexon’s shop, which is the first tab named “프리미엄 샵”. If you want to get the most out of your own plot of land, check out the tips and tricks article for more details! Anyone else get in the beta? I've been playing for the last couple hours
what you think of it? I'm not too keen on the increased focus on cosmetics.
I've seen gameplay of it and heard that it's not that great. But I am willing to try it out. Hopefully I can get in on the closed beta. Loved the original Maplestory (up until the big bang change). Curious to see where MS2 is headed.
Do we get to keep the rewards that we've received over the course of the CBT?
https://i.imgur.com/DEpyZM9.png http://maplestory2.nexon.net/en/news/article/30613/closed-beta-events Just these AFAIK I played it for a few hours last night. This main quest is really boring and the story is fucking terrible. Almost nothing but running to NPC after NPC and sitting through badly "choregraphed" cutscenes with bad dialogue and a bad plot. If it weren't for the fact that it's the best way of gaining XP outside of an exploit I wouldn't be doing it, but of course monster kills are worth jack shit in comparison. Other than that it's alright and I gain far too much enjoyment from gunning down cutesy fantasy creatures with a minigun.
The combat is really fun. If the main quest was more about killing things than talking to people then I wouldn't have many gripes.
Played a little more, learned there was a bunch of dungeons you can queue up for. Unfortunately, it looks like they're all 1-50 so most people wont even bother with them after they do it once for the main quest.
I just want to get ahead of the grind in an MMO for once instead of playing catch up.
Ok this main quest is painfully bland. The game is more appealing as a chatroom than anything else, having your leveling entirely be on one bland as hell main quest with a terrible storyline was a horrible decision. Me and my friends watching me stream the game all just collectively got bored to fucking tears after going through another dungeon that's a bunch of basic as fuck mobs in a hallway and a lame gimmick of "*moving tires*
The animation is kinda stiff on those cutscenes and gotta love how all the "dead" npcs have their eyes open.
Cutscenes are built like an early access game on a budget despite this actually being a translated game that's been out for fucking years made by a company that's rolling in microtransaction dough
Seems pretty trash from the time spent with it trying it properly going from quest to quest and doing a bit of the minigames that pop up. Had more fun messing around with putting dumb shit on the paper bag hat and importing midis for the instruments.
Way ahead of you. https://puu.sh/Ak8JW/bee726fc8e.jpg
Having fun with the music making. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbiDOz18Buw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-Ztfm2HmB0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auoDQLwv-8U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLHciMF3XLU
Having so much fun. There's so many cute little details and charm in this game. Customizing your house is also really fun. https://twitter.com/iKeychain/status/994433778532737024 https://twitter.com/iKeychain/status/994481442628554753 Designing my own hoodies is also really fun. Shame it's gonna be all paid content in the final game. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DczkwWmVQAAn5GB.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dczcjw5VMAEcBck.jpg
If you make a popular item you may never have to buy merit again
I miss the beta
CBT was extremely fun and reminded me of the classic mmo's i used to play as a child(aside from maplestory 1 of course). really nostalgic and fresh experience compared to all the other mmos in the market. but i'm just afraid that that good experience only occurred because everything wasn't behind a paywall yet which will probably be the case in full release
Second beta went into effect yesterday. I only got to level 20 on a heavy gunner but I spent a large portion of my play time just looking around at the different cosmetic stuff, designing an outfit for my character. MMO developers are terrified of users uploading their own images onto their game-- with good reason I might add-- But it's nice to get this feature, even with its drawbacks.
Speaking of old MMOs, has anyone tried R.O.S.E. online? Man, what a game. Too bad it's dead. It was pretty fun in open beta, then it finished beta and went subscription mode and when the devs realized they weren't getting any players they switched to FTP but it was already too late, the damage was done. I wonder how MS2 will fare on release.
True to MS1...
They removed all the pay to win content and made improved the progression of everything based on community feedback though.
I'd say if the free market isn't an overinflated mess (caused by p2w) it is already better than MS1
oh thank god they let us skip almost all the cutscenes now. in the cbt you could only skip about half of them and it was awful trying to level alts.

The game is now available for everyone. Hoping to spend some good time with it this weekend
Well i guess before this place goes up in smoke i'll share my thoughts. It's surprisingly solid and enjoyable to play. I've been playing it mostly with a controller just for ease of my sitting situation and while it doesn't work perfectly and i still need my mouse for menu navigation, for the bulk of combat and cutscenes and such it works pretty well. I think the cuboid world and buildings seriously clash with the smooth characters and monsters, but it's not a dealbreaker. I didn't play a TON of MS1 so correct me here if this was the case there, but there's a pretty big conflict in tone i feel. I know MS1 had that cartoony and cutesy chibi style but was also pretty anime and edgelordy, but there's some pretty adult themes and characters in this but it also tries to hold your hand like you're an idiot child, it's not BAD per se but just a thought. Also most characters have shitty personalities or i just want them to shut up so i can keep playing, especially the Berserker class. There's also some odd design choices i don't get, like making the bulk of chat channels paywalled, but hey, it's Nexon and F2P. Still though, all in all it's really solid and i'm enjoying it quite a bit.
they also went a step further, and you can't use world/shout chat until you have a level 50 on your account.
I could only play this for a couple hours before I uninstalled. I absolutely despise the block stuff and its such a massive step down from the first games 2D. That really made the first game feel unique for me and this just looks like cheap garbage.
got my wizard to 60.
