"Old people complain about children playing in a park shortly after complaining about how children don't go outside and play enough 'these days'".
I hate hearing kids outside, but I'm also not an arse and just put earplugs in. The sun is out, let them LIVE their childhood loud and happy.
videya gaems are bad but playing outside is also bad http://i0.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/015/266/Z7HeRxU.png
Jesus. If you want to live in absolute silence, go live in the bloody country, not a high-rise apartment complex in a capital city. Some people are such whingers.
The article says it's being moved to another park 300 meters away. Not great that it got demolished in the first place but that's really close by.
It's just being moved, some people work nights you know it's only fair.
removing all the places for kids to have safe, legal fun will just lead to kids hanging around in places they aren't supposed to be in or they'll stop going outside, both are not ideal.
As someone who works nights, earplugs exist.
But it's just being moved nearby, so it's not a big deal. Earplugs never did me any good.

But there is that playground right next to it kids will just keep screaming
Then you shouldn't move into a house literally metres from a public space.
The handball court is being moved 300 meters. A public space is not the same thing as people screaming. If it's being relocated and everyone's happier what's the problem?
It hasn't been yet built and knowing Councils here in Australia you can guarantee they'll drag their feet on building the replacement until people forget about the matter.
This reminds me of what happened to the kindergarten I went to as a kid. The kindergarten was on the basement-level of an apartment building, and there was a huge grass field infront of it. We played football etc. there every single time we were outside. I walked past it some years ago (more like 10+ years ago) and noticed the grass field was fenced off with a very high metal fence. I wondered about this and my mom told me the people living in the apartment building complained about kids playing on the grass field so they fenced it off. It was just some tiny patch of gravel now with a single swing and a single, tiny slide. The kindergarten was active from 10-14 or so and there were around 2 breaks when kids played on the field during that time. I guess people just hate kids.
nah, just kids having fun
Classic case of "seen and not heard"
The world doesnt stop and start for those who work nights. Ear plugs, window panels, noise machines, fans, blankets. Million solutions to block sound other than destroying a park.
Facepunch's resident Old Man right here guys.
