What the fuck
Currently, 16- and 17-year-old apprentices are prohibited from getting extra training in certain dangerous jobs, ranging from operating power-driven woodworking and meat-processing machines to forest fire fighting. The new proposal would unwind the protections that 16- and 17-year-olds currently have. Why? so companies can pay them min wage to work with heavy machinery?
Literally a mustache twirling villain move. Trump is like the bad guy of an Airbud movie, if it were rated R.
They also give bootstrap pulling lessons for free
With student loan debt in the U.S. rising to $1.5 trillion, apprenticeship programs may be a great alternative to many, especially those who don’t pursue a traditional higher education. “There has been great focus on four-year higher education, and in reality, that is not the right path for everyone,” said Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and assistant, who is spearheading the apprenticeship program. ???? this makes even less sense. So instead of funding trade school scholarships and having teens learn in a safe environment, just remove the protections and allow teens to quit school to go get a trade. Most trades require a HS graduation equivalent to begin with. “When I started doing this kind of work 20 years ago, we were losing 70 kids a year at work, and now we are losing usually 20 or less. We’ve made substantial progress, and I think that the tightened hazardous occupations rules have played a role in the lowered death tolls for teenage workers. So I would not be in favor of relaxing any of these standards; I think it would be a tragic mistake and would lead to the death of teenage workers,” Reid Maki, coordinator of the Child Labor Coalition, told Bloomberg Law. fuckin nice.

Because of-fucking-COURSE he did!
On one hand, it's kind of nice that some teens may have it easier to work part-time jobs to earn a bit of cash. On the other hand, it's lifting protection from minors that go into manual labor jobs, making them more susceptible to injury or death AND they still get paid minimum-wage. Can the Trump Administration get a "U Tryd" sticker?
It's so teenagers can operate things like bailers, meat slicers (like in a wal-mart deli), run a forklift or pallet jack, ect. Throw more burden on teenagers so they're not gimped in the work force. Next up they'll be allowed to work 40 hours a week while in highschool.
They shouldn't be allowed to work 40 hours a week as teenagers in school. I can scarecley see a benefit to the person, or society in the long term(Not short term) to that as a solution. Child labour laws exist for a reason, and education does as well. Children, including teenagers, need educations. Working a 40 hour work week, and going to school is literally more than you can ask of most people, and is beyond the healthy standards of what you SHOULD be asking someone. We know how important sleep is, and doing a full week of school, and a 40 hour work week means a dramatic cut in sleep. This means a dramatic cut in learning capability, in work efficiency. Honestly, fuck this idea. It's fucking horrible.
Step 1: Fuck over the education system, pay teachers horribly, give kids terrible education Step 2: Make the kids want to drop out and work unsafe minimum wage jobs. Jesus christ, going back to the 1920s does not make America great again.
Less than minimum wage.
Ehhh... as long as they don’t touch the protections set in place for jobs that involve hazardous materials, radiation or mining, I don’t think it would be entirely as bad as the title leads me to believe. I mean some of the restrictions on stuff like basic woodworking or tree removal with hand or powered tools seem a bit overprotective considering I had to to some of that stuff around the ranch since middle school. Also high school had a bunch of dangerous tools in shop class/mechanical drawing including band saws, circular saws, etc... On the other hand though... it’s Donald Trump. The guy would probably end up sending kids to work at Black Mesa without a helmet.
someone today said I was anti trump because I couldn't say anything good about him but this is dickensian villany right here.
Smog-filled, ashened skies, dangerous child labour, poor houses perhaps soon to follow. Maybe Trump wants to Make America Victorian for the First Time because they missed out on it last time?
Don’t forgetting cutting Child Healthcare funding! Can’t have cheap labor if they gotta pay for injuries from the unsafe working conditions!
Wouldn't want them holding up the child injury insurance market now would we
Who exactly wanted this? I don't recall a republican selling point to be "Let younger kids work minimum wage jobs like we did in the old days!!!"
"Well it was called the Roaring 20s for a reason."
More dumb the future generation is, the more likely they will vote republican. Even trump said his favorite base was the poor and stupid.
I'd bet there are plenty of small-business-owning republicans who can't legally let their children help with safe tasks because of technicalities in the laws. That will be the talking point, anyways. "They can choose not to work dangerous jobs" is a line that'll appear as well, because republicans are incapable of empathy, especially with the impoverished. It's real easy to spin this into something positive. Expect strong support for this.
As if the 1920s is where they will finally stop. Fuck it, let's just go all the way back to the early days of the industrial revolution, where elementary age kids slaved away in factories for pennies instead of going to school.
History is doomed to repeat itself to those who don't learn from it. And like last time, we'll fight tooth-and-nail to make sure child labor laws don't get unwinded. Fuck these corporate cocksuckers; they can't control people like this. I don't care if Trump supporters spin it as positive. I don't give a fuck about them. I give a fuck about the rights of children not being violated.
I'm surprised he doesn't just forces every teen into a few years in the army, because military based skills could be, you know, useful and stuff, for his plans... What an evil man.
I agree with getting trade skills in younger, but jesus fuck, this is not ok
I mean, it does until about 1929...
... the 2030s are going to be fucking terrible, aren't they
I hope not. But probably.
one small problem with your plan: you can't control an educated populace ;)
