Obama's Net Neutrality (2015-2018)
Wasn't NN the_donald's line in the sand for supporting him? Can only guess they'll ban people now for supporting NN. What a gross site
*meanwhile on t_d*
"ha! Look at those dirty libs! We triggered them yet again, and all we had to do is sacrifice more our freedoms! Maga mango!" aaannnd POST
*browser redirect* "we're sorry, but to access reddit.com, you must sign up for the "social media package" for only 10 dollars extra per month, and shove the GOPs dick a further 2 inches up your butthole. "
*t_d user* " well, anything for my god emporor"
t_d believes net neutrality was a ploy by Obama and the Democrats to control the internet.
Fantasric line in the sand to have considering we've known since 2014 that Trump opposes net neutrality and he's never claimed otherwise

So what's the best way to prepare for this? I've been trying to download everything I impulsively download and delete constantly and storing it on a USB so I don't waste bandwidth having to download them again. I read you should keep an eye on your ISPs and call them out if you notice they're starting to act shady but other than that I'm stumped besides praying Reese's Cup man gets arrested before the 11th.
I'm actually using Operas VPN I'm in America. I feel somewhat lucky that I don't live somewhere where I only have one ISP at least, that way they can compete to fuck me over a little less than the other. Silver linings I guess
Who the fuck has opened the rift into the void of suck? Christ.
How goes those corruption charges on Shit Pie? Any last shred of hope to hang on to?
I can't wait for the internet to become exactly like cable. On top of 10 gigabyte data caps with a 1 kilobyte up and 1 kilobyte down connection speed.
What an excellent birthday present!
Thank you Donald Trump for making Net Neutrality a partisan issue
I mean, it's been a partisan issue for ages. Because guess who the party that can most be bought by the big ISPs is, and coincidentally which party's held power in Congress for most of the last decade?
I'm wondering how /pol/ is feeling about this. As far as I know they support Net Neutrality though.
Look on the bright side, when ISPs around the country finish implementing their patented and very pricey Super-Duper Flow Restrictors® (it's a series of tubes, isn't it?) to increase the freedom on the internet, you'll never hit your data cap ever again! Unfortunately, the increased Internet Freedom™ means increased "taxes" and "government fees" to your usual $57/m bill, but that's because we at Ajit Paizon, Inc (don't) care about you!
Early Termination of services may occur if bill is not paid ten years or more in advance, and/or internet usage exceeds our patented "acceptable use cap" by 1%. Users may be fined up to 1000% of monthly charges per hour, and/or imprisoned under US terrorism laws for unlawful possession and/or usage of copyrighted materials, even those which are considered "abandonware". Have a nice day! (fuck you, open your ass and empty your bank account for us)
I hope we can kick the current FCC in the balls to stop this before next year. I'm certain that ISPs will wait a few months before actually doing anything nefarious, just so Ashit Pie can say "See? Nothing bad happened, you paranoid plebians."
So from what I've heard, ISPs aren't going to immediately go "fuck your face" mode with this because not only will they avoid pissing people off too quickly, but if they're subtle enough it's possible it'll stay, with the argument "SEE? IT WASNT SO BAD, IT AINT THE END OF THE INTURWEBS" being the main argument because they didn't immediately instate unreasonable datacaps, but rather did so over the course of a year or so.
What can Americans actually do in order to prepare? I mean, you could I guess download just about everything imaginable, be it the contents of entire forums/websites, but that would require a magnitude of storage that most wouldn't be able to afford.
I feel like this is a bit of an overreaction.
Well, it just came out that AT&T was making payments to Michael Cohen/Trump until the moment Pai was put head of FCC, then the payments stop. So I'm pretty sure he's going to get swept under the rug when Mueller bins nearly everyone for being connected in some way to some illegal activity
I'm glad our government is explicitly pro net-neutrality but I still worry this kind of shit will spill over the border. Our conservatives up here just love gargling corporate dick.
This worst part about this, to me, is that we'll know better. Once they start arbitrarily limiting and blocking things to squeeze out more money, everyone will know that there is no reason for it, no technical justification, because people will remember what the internet is like now. People will know what's possible. Yet the changes will still happen.
Slightly off-topic but I'm finding it extremely ironic that this is Trumps header image on Twitter.

I could have sworn I saw like a week ago something saying the repeal got fucked in court.
So where is the massive YouTube and internet company backlash this time?
I think we all know the real reason he keeps that image

Good luck to all US facepunchers, hopefully you survive these next few years of internet restrictive torture. I also hope this doesn't start a chain reaction and heads over to Europe in any way.
I heard Sweden's good this time of year...
