This is going to be awesome
Hey it's not dead! I was just wondering if they were still working on this.
I want to know what sort of sorcery they used to so seamlessly translate RoR into 3 dimensions. now it just needs those sweet tunes
they actually did it
and the visual difference on the player models, holy fuck
I was actually laying in bed thinking about Risk Of Rain 2 last night. When I woke up this was the first thing I saw <3
From the looks of it, they've been working non-stop.
better that they work on a functioning sequel than waste their time fixing the myriad of problems with the original
sooner i get to play this the better
Ooh, looks good so far. I really like the visuals&colors and the models look good also.
Played the first game so many times with friends, hope this will be as fun as the first one.
The only thing I worry about is how well my pc can hold up when there's a ridiculous amount of enemies approaching.
I wouldn't be surprised if this runs better. The original game was made in Gamemaker.
Also, it's made from the ground up with networking in mind, so I'm sure this will be a much more solid experience in general when playing with friends.
I love ROR but idk how to feel about the transition from 2D to 3D.
I feel like it will have more depth.
Actually looks pretty comfy to play.
It looks way better than what I've expected.
It's anime looking in design, cartoony style, lack of detail to the textures, I know the original was 2D and Pixelated but the was still detail in characters, enemies and levels, here it's just really flat looking.
I'll still probably end up getting it mind you, if they don't have a scalable UI though, that'll be annoying, I feel a game like this needs to have an option to make the UI smaller.
2D is great but there is a point where it is as shallow as a kiddie pool when it comes to what it can do compared to full 3D
full 3D just gives you so much more to do, including everything 2D can do.
I hope acrid and chef return.
I just hope melee ends up good. Loved comboing with Miner. All his skills worked together to setup the final blow really well. Initial charge to knock them all into a group, dash and stun, then fly above and drop dynamite on the entire group while they can't move.
I don't know what's making those squeeky toy noises but I hope it's in the final game.
Imagine a 40 minutes game with all those detailed textures and number popups. I would say they have done it right by simplifying details.
Very important to remember that this is pretty early footage too.
Pretty sure that's Tough Times (teddybear) dampening the strength of an incoming attack
I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at, could you elaborate? Detailed textures doesn't mean it's more difficult to tell what's going on, it's just the difference between flat looking textures and textures with a bit of depth.
More detailed textures = more noise
The gameplay itself looks fairly weak. As someone who didnt play the 2d original, it just looks like standard fare targetting MMO combat... not exactly known for being the most interesting type of gameplay.

A very good adaptation of her skills from 2D!
But yes, the auto-aiming is an ability of the Huntress and as far as I know the only other character with any auto-aim is the Engineer with his auto-targeting turrets.
Characters like Bandit and Sniper (both ranged) will require far more mechanical skill in 3D than they did in the first game. Whereas in OG RoR, hitting an enemy was a simple matter of firing on the same plane as them, all ranged characters besides Huntress will need to aim their shots. Close-quarters chars like the Miner or Mercenary will have more angles to come at from but also more angles to worry about.
I'm excited to get back to Merc'ing it up. I hope I can build helicopter Merc again.
Get Wicked Ring, max out Crits, never stop spinning your sword and flying through the air. It's so fucking goofy its amazing.
As long as Han-D is back I'm super hyped for this. RoR is one of my favorites.
