Can't embed the video, but here's the transcript from the link:
CHARLES PAYNE (HOST): Senator John McCain, he's not going
to endorse Haspel also in part because she believes in torture, that
she thinks it works, even though she laid out at least three instances
where it did work to the benefit of humankind, not just Americans, but
all human beings. Should they be evaluating this nominee on her
feelings, or based strictly on the facts and her commitment not to use
it anymore because it's no longer legal for us.
LT. GEN. THOMAS MCINERNEY: Well she can't use it anymore because we
have determined in Congress that it's not legal. The fact is, is John
McCain -- it worked on John. That's why they call him 'Songbird John.'
The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective, as former
Vice President Cheney said. And if we have to use them to save a million
American lives, we will do whatever we have to.
The Fox host has already apologized for having this shitstain on the air. And it's notable that, beyond being despicable, the comments about McCain are factually untrue, as Mccain only fed the Vietcong bullshit or information they already knew.
Just because it works doesn't mean we should it
So, using John McCain, someone who was tortured as evidence torture works is about as stupid as thinking the earth is flat.
McCain, for all his faults, never gave up any info that resulted in any losses. He's proof torture doesn't work.
The fucking idiocy of these people, and the idiots who fall for it is staggering.
It didn't even work on McCain. They're not only behaving in a despicable manner, they're lying, lmao.
Citing McCain as evidence only demonstrates how it doesn't work. Many career interrogators have come out saying that even if torture was a tool in their toolbox they'd never use it because it produces unreliable intel and uncooperative prisoners.
McCain told his captors that the GreenBay Packers were members of his unit; that is what their torture got them.
Arguing with torture advocates is pointless, they know it doesn't work. Its just some basic revenge fantasy, people who's idea of justice is an evening of waterboarding and a bullet in the head for breakfast.
I've had similar discussions with people who think the point of a prison should be to torture, mentally/physically break, and rob of any humanity those who are sent to it.
They don't want a place to reform criminals; they literally want to send them to hell on earth.
I mean what's the alternative? Deal with the reason why people commit crimes? Nah dude just kill all the criminals then there won't be no more crime
"We can't kill the criminals? Fine, that's stupid. Just break them down until they're no longer human; put the fear of God in them. When my pappy tanned my ass with his belt when I was a youngin' I stopped acting up right quick. What these fools need is someone to take a belt to their ass until they fear doing what they did again."
We don't even have to deal with the reason they committed the crime. We just have to give them a better way to live their life and help them find what it is that's special with them. "Breaking" someone who isn't broken because you feel they should be broken doesn't fix them - it just increases the number of pieces you're going to have to pick up at the end of the day. Not that those who'd call for execution and the like would be convinced of that - they're already convinced the reason people commit crimes in the first place is simply because 'they just weren't scared enough of being punished for what they did'.
Let's not forget that one of the best interrogators never actually used physical torture. It's almost as if when you treat a human being as a human being they're more willing to open up.
but nah let's just electroshock those brownies because it feeds our sadism boner
While also justifying 'why my dad needed to paddle my butt raw to get the truth out of me so I'd 'fess up about who ate a slice of my sister's birthday cake'. It's said the children of abusers often pass the blame of the abuse on to themselves, justifying what was done to them as reasonable, and therefore finding it reasonable to do to others, because it's harder for them to manage having been abused for no good reason than for a good reason.
From now on every Trump owned resort will have its own prison attached, where you can hit golf balls at guys we captured in Afghanistan because we're ~~pretty sure~~ they're terrorists.
Those of you with the Premier membership can sign up for torture 101 classes held every Sunday at the John McCain Memorial Torture Chamber. Waterboarding lessons in the morning followed by brunch, with some fingernail removing classes in the afternoon. Bonus points if you get your guy to sign the fake confession you receive at the start of the day!
lol people involved in torture, kidnapping and assassination are almost certainly scumbags, but nobody wants to believe it because of decades of hollywood subsidised propaganda. Go have a read of some of more recent exposes of SEAL team culture and misconduct if you still hold hero narratives about our military hit squads.
Good people don't do that shit period. One can absolutely make the argument that these activites may be necessary evils sometimes, but dont for a minute delude yourself into thinking there is such a nonsensical thing as the hollywood trope of the antihero. The people who do this stuff for a living are government employed sociopaths, necessarily so.
The disgusting lies some Republicans spread about John McCain, who is an actual living American hero, really shows how little they actually care about that kind of stuff when it comes down to it
It's because he's dared to venture from current Republican orthordoxy once in a while. Doesn't matter that he votes the party line 99 percent of the time. The modern day Republican establisment will not accept anything less than total conformity - which is hilariously hypocritical considering how much conservatives complain about the "liberal hive mind."
Eat the fuck is with everyone on the Republican party dumping on McCain? The dude is a fucking vet and he's dying right now! This shit is cowardly and downright evil.
If you support torture and your argument is "it worked on McCain" then you aren't allowed to consider yourself a good person. You are the baddies, now.
Holy fucking shit, can you just not, America?
I don't care for McCain at all as a person or a politician and I still think this is pretty ghastly. I guess this is Trump's GOP now.
*Presidential appointee known for torture*
Fox News: wtf we love torture now
I'm not sure this is a new thing

What do you expect from a party that denies fact based thinking and science.
People have known its been ineffective for decades, hell theirs old episodes of Star Trek TNG that have brought this up.
You can see this in every part of Republican policy, honestly.
Take terrorism: they'd rather wait until an attack happens, then kill whoever did it, bomb their homeland and depose its government, than reach out to radicalized people, or to marginalized young men vulnerable to jihadist preachers, before an attack happens. If you suggest it, they will sneer and accuse you of being a SOFT LIBERAL PUSSY and SYMPATHIZIN WITH THEM TERRISTS, because trying to see something from the attacker's point of view is basically the same thing as being on his side and wanting him to do it.
In a conservative's mind,
1) committing a terrorist attack and killing dozens, hundreds, or thousands of innocents
2) preparing to commit a terrorist attack
3) being so angry at America that you sometimes think about committing a terrorist attack
are crimes carrying the same sentence: death. Go outside and ask your average conservative why 9/11 really happened and what Bin Laden hoped to achieve by attacking the United States. Not only will they not know why (beyond "THE TERRORISTS HATE OUR FREEDOM", and yes, I remember thinking that too when I was twelve years old), they won't even understand why you'd want to know.
I doubt you've talked to a "conservative" in your life ever, much less asked a random person on the street about the motivations of the 9/11 attacks. Just silly post all around, you could've just said you think the other side is a bunch of dumb ugly gits instead of pretending that you have some insight into the minds of some 5 million people.
well i used to be one and i grew up around them and went to school with them and they're about 3/4 of my contacts on facebook, but please, continue to claim i've never even met one
you used to what? a conservative, when you "were 12"? Get a grip. You couldn't begin to describe conservative politics (your previously stupid post just about paints a picture) accurately to me more than the average american could describe marxist politics accurately, because the average person is not that politically engaged, nor do they have a rigid political identity beyond I'm voting dem/rep. Whats the difference between a conservative and a neoconservative? do you even care?
you want to believe that conservatives are this:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/63/Redneckrampage.jpg/220px-Redneckrampage.jpg
which is about as accurate a caricature as the one people make of left wingers being soyboys obsessed with coloring their hair and shoving things up their ass. Again, just get it out of the way and say you think they're all dumb flyover proles.
if you haven't noticed. a good chunk of people on FP used to live in pretty conservative households/still live in conservative households. I think we know how their brain works.
They don't care if it's not true, they just want more torturing of ebul brown people.
Nothing against the host over this, it's not his fault his guest said the dumbest shit ever
But I thought torture was no big deal? I mean, Sean Hannity pledged to waterboard himself just over 9 years ago - it's just like getting "dunked" in a pool, right, Hannity? I don't know about you guys, but if someone just lightly dunked me in a pool a few times, I wouldn't feel all that compelled to recite verbatim the live GPS coordinates of America's 27 most top-secret deep-cover spies. Waterboarding's basically just like a bunch of consecutive speed-baptisms. I mean, the torture they used in Vietnam was basically just an all-natural deep-tissue bamboo manicure and massage. I bet McCain was just so relaxed from all the torturing that he spilled the beans - we should be doing that!
send this guy to the hague please
