oh god not those angry rates again From Deadline.com: It’s the end of the road for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fox’s cult cop comedy starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, the only remaining Fox comedy series from an outside studio, Universal TV. Brooklyn Nine-Nine debuted to decent ratings in September 2013, then quickly scored a Season 2 renewal and a post-Super Bowl slot for its freshman run which also garnered two Golden Globe awards — for Best TV Series – Comedy or Musical and best actor in a comedy for SNL vet and Lonely Islander Samberg. But Brooklyn Nine-Nine never drew wide audiences, with its ratings performance hampered by the constant scheduling moves between Sunday and Tuesday. After a lengthy winter break, the show returned to its old 8:30 PM Sunday slot this spring as a midseason replacement for freshman comedy Ghosted. Apparently Fox gave the boot to The Last Man on Earth and The Mick TV shows too.
Surprised it lasted this long considering how often they moved it.
Surprised it lasted this long considering how unfunny it was.
what if humour is subjective
everyone but Andy Sambert and Chelsea Peretti were funny honestly. but atleast Andy's character was good so that the others could bounce off of him whereas Gina, Chelsea's character was always painfully dull.

The best characters were Scully and Hitchcock, some amazing lines from them like "I'm hungry" "I need a sandwich lol" and "this reminds me of the time I ate a sandwich" I got into this show like a month ago and binge watched through to season 3, it's a really fun show imo, though not perfect. Obviously Captain Holt is the standout star, and must be the best gay character in any sitcom. In a way I'm glad I got into it so late cus by the time I started watching it was already clear that another season was very unlikely to be commissioned due to falling ratings
I was just telling someone the other day about how Fox is killing it in the comedy department lately and now they go and cancel 3 of my favorite shows.
Five seasons is pretty good to end on, though the renewal of BBT is baffling. They get fucking married! You END on that shit not continue!
I still haven't finished Season 5, but if it leaves off on a cliffhanger then it's best for Netflix or Amazon Prime Video to pick this show up as an original.
Noooooooo I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Last Man on Earth.
They're also entirely different networks.
I watched the first 3 episodes a while ago and I think it was show with the worst ratio of jokes thrown vs jokes that landed for me. I was watching it with a few other friends who had already watched it and they were laughing all the time, but for me it felt like it tries to have a constant stream of one-liners to see what sticks, but they all fell flat. So I can see why people like it, if you like the humor you'll probably find it consistently funny.
Of course humour is subjective. If it wasn't then the show wouldn't have been axed.
I just started watching this show a few weeks ago too, What a shame
Never saw much of it but I did enjoy the few episodes I watched, shame it's gone.
oh yeah Hitchcock and Scully both left me in tears numerous times, especially Scully. i was surprised by how fun Terry Crews can be, as well as Holt's stoic, robotic personality lending itself so well to his role. shame to see it go, but maybe it was for the best. season 6 might've become the black sheep of the series, maybe.
CBS also cancelled Person of Interest which raked in a ton of views
What does the fox say? Cancelled
Damn, I hope it gets picked up by someone because it's honestly one of my favourite shows of all time. Then again, I'm one of those weirdos that likes the character of Gina between S1-S4.
I've heard it's being picked up by Hulu.
This is a shame, I really enjoyed B99. It wasn't the most profound thing on television, but I found it consistently funny
They heard about it coming up for re-commission and said "Brooklyn? Nein, nein!"
That's a shame. Brooklyn Nine Nine is one of those shows that while I won't seek it out and have never really followed, I'll happily watch it if it happens to be on. I'd get a good couple of laughs out of it, and it had a sort of wholesome feeling, fairly progressive and never mean spirited. In that way it kind of felt the opposite of TBBT, which was always unfunny and just seemed unpleasant, but not in a dark, funny way just a shitty unfunny way.
The Expanse also just got canceled by SyFy. The last few days have really been hard for tv-lovers.
NO WHAT THE FUCK
What the fuck why? Fucking SyFy. I hope Prime or HBO picks it up.
I'm fucking pissed. Andre Braugher's acting elicited some genuine laughter from me.
The cancellation decision by Syfy is said to be linked to the nature of its agreement for the series, which only gives the cable network first-run linear rights in the U.S. That puts an extraordinary amount of emphasis on live, linear viewing, which is inherently challenging for sci-fi/genre series that tend to draw the lion’s share of their audiences from digital/streaming. ‘The Expanse’ Canceled By Syfy After Three Seasons, Will Be Shop..
I wouldn't rule out Netflix. Considering one of their most popular shows has a sci-fi bent and Altered Carbon proved to be successful, I think they'd give it a fair shake, plus a proper budget.
