What the fuck, how is this not overt ideological suppression and oppression of black activism?
reminder that despite their work against the trump administration the FBI is not your friend and has done awful shit like this over the entire course of its existence
The FBI, Keighley said, learned of the protest from a video on Infowars, a far-right site run by the commentator Alex Jones, known for spreading false news and conspiracy theories. The reference to Infowars stunned Balogun: “They’re using a conspiracy theorist video as a reason to justify their tyranny? That is a big insult. For fuck's sake
Guy sounds like a violent shitbag but arresting him over internet comments he didn't even make is retarded
I looked into this man. I can't find anything to fault him at all. I think that he and his activism are really admirable and it shows how desperate the FBI is that they'd try to label him a domestic terrorist. I guess this goes to show that in America, being a) black, b) a gun owner, and c) an activist is a combination that will land you in trouble with the government, no matter how innocent you are. Pathetic. also I cannot believe how transparent this racial profiling is, like holy fuck
Yeah, I'm not saying he deserved to be arrested at all, this is obviously a case of racial profling. I'm just saying advocating murder isn't cool, people like that shouldn't be called a hero. I don't understand how that's a controversial opinion.
Looking forward to all the alt right and skeptics coming out to defend this man having his free speech censored by the government.
They won't. They support ideological suppression and censoring of anyone but themselves. Then they care.
For what it's worth, I'm finding no mention of this on T_D.
Absolutely ridiculous.
In a leaked August 2017 report from the FBI’s Domestic Terrorism Analysis Unit, officials claimed that there had been a “resurgence in ideologically motivated, violent criminal activity” stemming from African Americans’ “perceptions of police brutality”. Because abusing your authority and wasting government resources to maliciously harass political activists won’t just piss them off even more with law enforcement.
I understand why they were watching him, but he shouldn't have been arrested
If we decided it was somewhat okay for the feds to arrest you for being mad on the internet most of the world would be in jail right now. When I see someone online say how some criminal or scumbag should be killed I think they're dumb but ignore it. Angry people isn't the same as people making direct threats.
Yeah, obviously. I never said it was ok to arrest him given his actions. Read my actual posts, I say that twice.
I guess COINTELPRO never really ended
