https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doNl-1rGdVc&t=0s So SyFy has confirmed they're not going to renew the expanse for season 4, there's currently a petition for amazon or netflix to pick up the series. petition: https://www.change.org/p/netflix-or-amazon-please-buy-the-rights-to-the-expanse-savetheexpanse
what's with all the good shows getting canned lately? first AvED now the Expanse might get canned ughhh
I'm hearing Netflix has rejected them but Amazon is apparently showing interest.
They probably will do that if Amazon picks them up. They might have to move to a new studio lot if they were on a SyFy backed one.
Where are you hearing about Netflix rejecting them?
This show has gotten so little attention its criminal Amazon needs more original programming, this would be a good pick for them.
All these good shows being canceled. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency was another show I liked and they killed.
The subreddit.
If the rumors are to be believed, Amazon is going to pickup for show for a fourth season. I already sent an email to Amazon and Bezos GRRM is also advocating strongly for this show to be saved.
Nooooo, just when I got into the show!
Dark Matter was canned by them last year, now this? Fucking hell, Syfy just hates good shows.
From what I understand, even though the show has done nothing but get better and better with each episode and season, somehow Syfy isn't making much money off of it somehow
Cable is dead/dying. And it does not help that SyFy is hemmoraging viewership.
I work for a small TV network and I can attest its dying, its basically go VOD or suffer a slow bleedout from lack of money. This seems like a simple choice, but upper management consists of baby boomers who don't grasp this or are retiring soon and don't care.
Dark Matter has an average RT score of 86% and audience score of 88% The Expanse has an average RT score of 90% and audience score of 96%, and season 3 is currently at a 100% rating for both. If SyFy produced Game of Thrones they would have canceled it by season 3 or 4 as well. Their business model simply cannot keep these series in production, which is a real shame because the end of this season is going to get fucking nuts.
This is one of the best shows I've seen in a good while. I really hope someone else picks it up. I just started listening to the audiobooks.
Can Amazon pick up Dark Matter, too? I'd be perfectly okay with that.
Syfy made a good show again? I gave up on them and haven't looked back since they canned SGU and Caprica
The expanse is great, i saw clips but i rarely watch any cable TV anymore. They had a more realistic approach to space combat where a railgun round literally penns an ship and caused a massive air leak across multiple rooms: https://youtu.be/mq0xETavaN0 sick as fuck
No, they licensed a good show and they're butthurt they don't own it outright.
They pushed back the demolition of the set to Wednesday, so we will know if they worked out an agreement by then or if the show is dead.
The show me doing better production/writing wise, but it could just be viewership is plummeting.
Holy fucking shit this is news to me about Dark Matter being cancelled, I didn't even know. I really liked that show.
Honestly if Amazon or had Netflix picked them up, viewership would be alot less of a problem. SyFy doesn't have the greatest distribution means for their shows. I really don't want this show to die, considering just how tightly written it is and tier or two above most TV SciFi (Probably due to just solid source material, I have admittadly not read the books yet).
Oh shit I really hope Amazon or Netflix picks this up, The Expanse has been some of the best hard sci-fi that came out the past decade. It would be such a shame if it died a quiet dead, there is so much potential still in there.
Only saw the first season. It wasn't bad, but does it get brighter? Show was so fucking dark when I watched it I had to turn the brightness up to max.
The community raised enough funds to have a plane fly a banner over Amazon HQ for 4 hours can't say we didn't try
I started watching this show like 4 days ago and it's fucking great. I hope amazon picks it up
There are some personal victories, but overall, it follows just like how modern day politics goes - a shitshow that just gets worse.
There's also a big campaign going on to save Lucifer, which also got canceled. They're also looking at online streaming.
