• Contradictory Documentation, we need something "official" and up to date.

Hey, I decided to host my own sever, long story short, it's quite a pain to get it working how it should be. Most of the documentation online is contradictory or simply out of date. We should maintain the steamCMD Rust page with up to date content, that is right and VERIFIED / approved by the community and developers. Extra questions I can't seem to find anywhere, what's the max players variable, 200 ? eg: server.maxplayers 200. setting it to 300 makes my server display only max 44. Do I need to add -load ? at the end of the command line ? Why is the server generating my map on each restarts, it has the same seed and map size. Why is there so many contradictory answers on the forums, can we just agree on something correct that actual work ? Regards.
Everything you need to know about running rust servers is accessable by using google. If you don't know how to run a rust server, and the information on the internet does not help you with your problems, you should not run a server. We are getting tired of having to answer the most common questions.
That's quite funny. If you are getting tired of having to answer the most common questions, it is because there isn't any non-contradictory answers online. I know how to use Google, mind you. I find this answer extremely frustrating, you took time to answer something that simply doesn't help anyone. SteamCMD Rust's wiki isn't up to date, and has partial or insufficient answers. Forums have inconsistent answers, most of them are contradictory or simply don't work. Tutorials are out of date, and a lot of them are poorly documented. The lack of official documentation makes this really hard. Although I have a running server, which work great, I'd still love to know what is the correct and official way to make it run. Which of course you can't answer yourself, because you're clueless as the rest of the community. On a side note: I'm willing to change the situation and work on a committed-always-up-to-date complete wiki on GitHub based on my personal experience and researches which Rust critically needs. "If you are getting tired of having to answer the most common questions, it is because there isn't any non-contradictory answers online" no, it isn't, it's because many people do not know how to run a server. The most retarded people can do it with the info thats online. If this info does not help you, stop trying and just join one of the 4000+ rust servers. Rust, Oxide, plugin devs and the community does not want anymore noob server owners, thats why we make this statement.
First off, my server works great; Thank you. I do know how to run one, been doing so for years. I'm just wondering what is the max-player variable in rust which isn't documented anywhere and so is the -load launch option. Secondly, you're not helping anyone and that's all fine, keep your knowledge for yourself then (if you got any). There's not point arguing with a selfish idiot on an ego trip. I'm already sorry for the next person looking for the same answer after a long google search streak, having to read your useless posts. You're trashing the thread here, I suggest you just stop answering since you're not contributing & off-topic. I'm glad that you're a genius, I hope you'll use your amazing skills to contribute the world in a better way. No hard feelings.
@Stoner Jezus Why do you even comment on peoples posts if you aren't here to help or say anything productive? Every post I see you make is extremely negative and immature. Normally when someone makes a server, they don't know how to run a server. That's why there's guides to help them learn. Smh.
