Pet dog raised by Chinese family for two years turns out to be a black bear

When Su Yun bought her family a puppy two years ago, she was surprised by how much the dog ate. “A box of fruits and two buckets of noodles every day,” she told Chinese media.
There was, it turns out, a reason for its prodigious appetite: the animal has grown into a 250lb bear.
“The more he grew, the more like a bear he looked,” said Ms Yun, a villager living near the city of Kunming in Yunnan province. “I am a little scared of bears.”
It has been identified as an endangered Asiatic Black Bear, which would fetch thousands of pounds if sold on the black market.
The family say they bought the animal believing it to be a Tibetan mastiff while on holiday in 2016.

Their fur colors and patterns can be pretty similar, but even then it still looks nothing like a puppy or a dog for that matter. Either they need to get their eyes checked, or they actually bought it knowing it was a bear, and things got out of hand for them so they had to turn it over.

I just can not believe how the two could be mistaken as one.

Also, tibetian mastiffs are not to be fucked with:

it is used by local tribes of Tibetans to protect sheep from wolves, leopards, bears, large mustelids, and tigers.

They are also big and fluffy, which would be my main reasoning to get my hands one.
