"The official gameplay reveal for RAGE 2 will release right here
tomorrow, May 15. Stay tuned for more information about the return of
the wild world of RAGE."
So, is it developed by id?
Fortunately it doesn't look like it.
What a terrible video.
I can't find anything on who's developing it. Maybe it'll get revealed with the gameplay?
I think I can safely say everyone would prefer it if id was working on a sequel to DOOM.
Yep.
What a shit trailer, I swear to god if the gameplay doesn't match this wacky nature then this trailer is straight up fucking useless, but I get the feeling it's gonna be Borderlands: RAGE if this is anything to go by, which will be a disappointment in my eyes, I liked RAGE for it's gritty nature, I mean even that TV Show thing was hosted by some mutant guy and it was still gritty.
I'm not optimistic.
I sure don't know what the fuck is going on here but I loved RAGE and really never expected it to get a sequel. I'll stay cautiously optimistic until the gameplay trailer tomorrow, and when we find out who is actually making this thing.
I vaguely recall the enemies in RAGE being batshit crazy so it looks like they're really leaning hard into that, which is probably a good thing since there have been a million serious brown post-apocalyptic games at this point.
that quite bad trailer and the game seems to have a different tone from the first game.
Hopefully gameplay video will convince me.
I'd take Borderlands: RAGE anytime over generic brown Fallout: RAGE.
That was very loud and annoying. But I agree that a post-apocalyptic game that isn't brown and desaturated would be nice.
I do like the tone I'm getting from this trailer-- it sort of seems like Road Warrior to Mad Max, where Mad Max was relatively dowdy and straight-laced, albeit slowly degenerating into chaos and misery, whereas Road Warrior was just fucking crazy in comparison. And then we have Fury Road to Road Warrior, which was like dialing the wackozade up 20 levels.
I wasn't interested in Rage 2 before but now I'm cautiously interested in what they do with it.
For a moment I thought this was Avalanche Software, who had made wonderful titles such as Dragon Ball Z Sagas and Cars 3: Driven to Win
Oh well if this is made my Avalanche Studios my interest just peaked.
Yeah, reading that I literally sat up in my chair. If given the big budget that Bethesda might hand out to a dev, Avalanche might be able to make a really good post-apoc game. Mad Max had an incredibly great atmosphere, it was just lacking in shit to do beyond generic strongholds.
is this the suicide squad sequel
Only if the game isn't as painted-on wacky as this trailer seems to be... I'm interested in the gameplay reveal tomorrow tho.
Avalanche might be the best people to make a Rage game worth playing.
The obvious problem Rage has is distinguishing itself. Giving us massive, Just Cause-like environmental destruction would be good. Let us actually level a bandit camp, burn it to the ground. Give us crazy vehicular combat - not just driving and shooting, but actually getting out and jumping between moving cars and shit.
Another thing the game needs is enemy variety. I don't want to just fight bandits - after all, they're only "bad" because "they shoot people and take their stuff", which is also exactly what the player is doing. Maybe making us a bandit could work, but that still hits the problem of repetitive combat that made Rage 1 such a slog.
I never played Rage so I guess I can't be disappointed for whatever they show.
Im usually a very positive person, but why the fuck. The last thing we need is a serious game getting a Borderlands-ripoff for a sequel. We have enough zany post-apocalyptic properties thanks. What.
This is getting into Prey 2017 territory. While that game was sick as TITS, it didn’t share really anything with it’s “source material”. It feels weird when people do this ._.
Wow, that looked fucking awful
Do we have enough??? There's Borderlands and that's about it, every other post apocalyptic game is pretty much totally serious.
See you in 4-5 more years then!
I’d say like 6 Borderlands games is enough (Fallout can be too I guess) :v they’re kind of /the game/ for that already. It’s what set em apart, this feels too close to me.
Bright post-apoc in the vein of Borderlands, Tank Girl, Bulletstorm, etc could be good or it could be a total disaster, but at least it's not the original game which was 90% brown. You can tell they were trying to make it "wacky" even then though, so it's not a complete tonal shift

Also it's fun to watch the "rage was good, actually" posts show up in every comment section related to this trailer. It was solid (80 on Metacritic), it's main issue was that it's forgettable.
Rage felt good to play but unfortunately it was incredibly short
I felt like rage 1 needed like 6 months more of development to be a great game. The Second part of the game was way too short.
