Certainly looks like they took a couple pages from Doom 2016.
I wonder what id's involvement is.
If I was to guess id focused on the FPS elements while Avalanche did the vehicles and open world.
See this looks more promising. Nothing mind blowing but I can see it being fun.
Wait so, if the game isn't going to be wacky....then what the fuck was the teaser about? The Teaser/Box Art is completely different in tone than the Gameplay trailer.
I’m a bit tired of the open world FPS, but the original rage was an open world FPS so I can’t really complain
At the end it looks like the player goes into some kind of Rage Mode and the color palette changes from a dull brown to more pink and oranges. I'm guessing you're going to see some wild color fluctuation whenever that ability is used.
I guess taking another shot at Rage makes sense, after all, Bethesda has had success with post-apocalyptic shooty games, and open world FPS games are still big
When you put aside all the pink that they show superimposed over it, the games tone looks to be exactly like the first Rage. It feels like they're trying to brand it as being this crazy over the top action game when it's just another brown post-apoc game we've all seen before.
Looks extremely pretty, and seems like the environments are more open and interesting; but beyond that doesn't really tell us much about the gameplay.
You know what could be great? If they switch weapons with those from Bullestorm. They would be more fitting.
This looks like some good fun. Has my hopes up.
I wanna see more games with Deus Ex style hub level design. Open but smaller and with a larger focus on detail than scale.
This trailer is a lot better than the cringy thing they released yesterday considering I was able to see their through to the end. I thought the first game was a good start but the lack of an ending was a real kick in the balls
MadMax had a decent open world what are you on about
Am I the only one who doesn't like this song? It's also really fucking loud in this trailer, christ.
I should actually finish the first one
I wonder if it will be able to get 60 fps on consoles. That was one thing that really sold me on the first game.
Mad Max World was really pretty and detailed, but the gameplay was quite repetitive.
Yeah it wasn't stellar in that field but it was a pretty enjoyable game I just wish it hadn't relied on Arkham style fisticuffs.
And here I was, thinking that Bethesda was getting id Software to go after the "Borderlands crowd." I fully expected it to show online co-op. But nah, id Software decided to apply the same philosophy they had for DOOM 2016 to RAGE, and that seems to be just making a fun and entertaining game. I'm down with the concept of DOOM style combat in an open world setting made by Avalanche. Honestly interested to see more. Still quite a massive shift from the first RAGE (which I did enjoy but do admit is kinda bland).
I'm assuming iD handled the FPS aspect while Avalanche handled the vehicles and open-world part.
I would buy it if it had coop. A modern coop game with Id's visceral gunplay would be great
This has me even more hyped tbh. I love ridiculous punk aesthetic so I liked the teaser, but the game seems like it's going to be a blast.
I'm a bit confused. The trailer was edited with all these crazy colors but the gameplay wasn't so colorful. It did look like crazy mayhem though. Which brings me to the confusion. I played Rage once and I don't remember any promotional art. The game itself was pretty serious in tone with only that one arena owner being a bit wacky. The rest was just Mad Max styled wasteland governed by evil military and crazy tribes. This looks like it could be a Borderlands sequel. We'll see I guess, the first game had piss poor story so there's room for improvement. The shooting and car combat looks sick so there's at least that.
Original Rage was NOT open world. Not even close. That said I hope this open world kind of thing doesn't ruin Rage 2 because right now it does look interesting and the graphics look amazing.
I think its rather ironic that Rage 2 is open world because its quite literally the expectation that everyone had with Rage 1, and as you said, it wasn't even close to being an open world game. I'm cautiously optimistic for this game.
God I hate that box art. It's like a mobile game icon, absolutely disgusting
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Gearbox is pretty nervous now about Rage 2 stealing Borderlands' limelight. After the disasters that were Aliens Colonial Marines, DNF and Battleborn, they really can't afford to fuck up with their last franchise.
