Hello I'm FormulaBlue. I am currently starting my adventure on being staff on GMOD.
I currently have worked on Minecraft and FiveM for the past 5 years and now I'm taking it to GMOD.
If any of you reading this now has a server and could let me in please post a comment bellow or add me on steam. [EG] TheGreenMuffins
Have a great day
.
I will be happy to give more information.
Here is a small checklist for becoming a decent admin, longterm on Garry's Mod (in my books, atleast):
Learn the basic commands for things like ULX or FMod (Admin tools).
Play the game, you will not be a very good admin if you do now know how to play :P
Think of a way for server owners/head admins to contact you. Steam? Forum? Email?
Start going to smaller servers that are just starting up (search "indev") & apply for staff on them. Try not to apply on ones that are just kids screaming their heads off.
Once you have became staff on one or two servers, stay there for a while. Until they shut down as most small ones do, or until you get bored (stay around a month if possible).
Start applying for admin on larger servers & show your expiriance of being a staff member on them. Most larger servers like having expirianced staff members, on any games, like yourself.
Once you have got a place, be a good admin
Alternitivly, you can find a community that you have played for quite a while on Garry's Mod & apply for staff there. Most admins will know you & if you have a good reputation, it will be a major plus.
Hope this helps! Sorry for some mis-spelt words..
woopty-de doo!
If you want to be staff on a server for being staff on a server, you will not only be a bad staff member ( given you're new to garrys mod [?] ) but you will also not enjoy it.
In my opinion, the best way to approach becoming a staff member on any server is very simple.
1) Find a server you genuinely enjoy playing on and become apart of that servers community.
2) Make friends in that community and enjoy yourself as a player. Contribute where you can and just play the game normally.
3) Once you're experienced, take steps to help newbies in game out where appropriate.
4) If you're sure you like dealing with people asking silly questions frequently and feel like further contributing to that specific community, apply for a role with more power / authority ( Like trusted commonly ). See how you feel in that role.
5) If you still wanna advance because you would like to further help the community out and NOT because you want the power to ban kiddies, apply for staff or go through whatever appropriate venues are to obtain staff on that server.
The rest is whatever, but I definitely suggest just getting involved with a community / server first before going for staff. Play and enjoy the game man, it's better that way.
I mean, it really depends on why you want to apply and where you want to apply.
Don't apply if :
-You think the server is boring and unoriginal.
-You want to have powers to look cool, fuck around over the limit or intimidate players.
Do apply if :
-The server is a blast or really fun.
-You want to help people get a headstart, fix the server's flaws to an extent, keep balance between the players and fellow staff or just give everyone a good time.
Apply on a Garry's Mod server you enjoy, not being hired for.
