https://www.pcgamesn.com/stalker-2/stalker-2-release-date GSC Game World owner Sergiy Grygorovych announced the game’s existence via Facebook today, providing a link to a new official website. All that’s there is a STALKER 2 logo with 2021 printed underneath, as well as the email address presumably there for newsletter sign-ups. If any doubt remained, the game is also now shown on GSC Game World’s main website. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 GSC Game World What the fuck.
They better not fuck this up.
I never thought I'd see the day.
Ah nu cheeki breeki i v damke!

blowout soon fellow stalker.
I don't believe any of this.
I fuckin gasped when I saw the title But I'll believe it when I see it, there's too many ways they can fuck this up.
Very few games get me excited from simply being told a year it might come. This is definitely one of them.
Christ, 2021, why even tell us now, that's just fucking evil.
Or at least fuck it up enough to where the community can fix it, like the last time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYQLKrRXtl0 I can hardly believe it, but I really really hope this ends up coming out and comes out great. It's been too long. All they had to do was announce it and I'm already hyped.
this is a sign that I have to go back and finish reading roadside picnic lmao
Who do they even have working on it? Almost everyone who worked on the previous games left GSC Game World with many going to form their own studios like 4A and Vostok. GSC Game World only has the STALKER name, not the talent that made it.
Eleven years since the original. And it'll arrive twelve -- or eleven years after Call of Pripyat. It's been a long time.
The team doesn't matter too much, as long as they can build the atmosphere and wold again. They just need to have the right tallent working on it. The whole reason STALKER 2 was canned in the first palce was the game's direction was terrible and in cohesive, and the story blew. They just need a new engine, that can pull of the great atmosphere, more Alife. Build the game as an immersive sim for living in the zone, then build the story from there.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES FUCKING YES FUCKING YES BRING IT BABY STALKER IS BACK I'M FEELING IT
Eastern European developers are very revolving door-y due to different company politics. IIRC GSC's team rotated a lot of its staff at least 4-5 times over the course of the original trilogy alone. If the creative control is decent enough I won't have much doubt in it at least standing up to the originals.
I have to be honest, I'm not hopeful this will be good. A lot of the key personnel that made STALKER what it was are long gone. GSC's spotty financials don't give me much hope either, for a project that will presumably require a brand new engine.
This interview gave me the impression that the owner of GSC Game World and how he handled things left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. When Prokhorov came to GSC in 1996 it was only a loosely affiliated group of 15 people in a two-room apartment. The 26-year old Ph.D. was interviewed by their leader, a then-16-year-old Grigorovich. "It was like a crazy house," Prokhorov says, but the work was intoxicating and the pay was marginally better than what he was receiving from the government. Throughout the early 2000s, as GSC grew larger on the sales of Cossacks games, Prokhorov and others began to resent how the company's earnings all seemed to go to Grigorovich. Their CEO had stated many times that Cossacks earned the company more than $100 million, but Prokhorov says the wages of average employees remained comically low. In 2005, six years into the development of the first Stalker, GSC employed 140 people. Prokhorov says that in the parking lot there were only four cars. Three of them belonged to Grigorovich: a BMW X5, a Porshe Cayenne and a Ferarri F430 with plates that read "Stalker." Eventually, after a falling out with Grigorovich over wages in 2006, Prokhorov and two lead programmers left the company to found 4A. After the first Stalker was published in 2007, Prokhorov says that Grigorovich fired the entire art department at GSC. Nearly all of them came to work for 4A. "We decided to make [4A] a firm where the first priority will not be money, but people," Prokhorov tells Polygon. "We pride ourselves on having created a good team. Because if you have a good team, sooner or later you'll earn the money. ... Most of our people own a car." On the day Polygon visited there were perhaps a dozen cars in 4A's main lot, a black luxury BMW among them. The average level of games industry experience at 4A is 10 years. Prokhorov puffs out his chest as he talks about his team, proud of its expertise, its perseverance and how far it's come since leaving GSC seven years ago en masse. Last Light survived the bankruptcy of its publisher, THQ, and has gone on to sell more than the original Metro title. https://www.polygon.com/features/2013/9/8/4568598/stalker-fallout-gsc-game-world

I have my doubts as to the quality of this and/or whatever it'll actually end up releasing, but I guess I'll reserve judgement until we have some more actual info
Well that's surprising. I was under the impression that GSC went under for the longest time. I really hope they don't fuck it up, a next gen STALKER game would be fucking amazing.
They did, but then they resurfaced and made Cossacks 3 https://www.pcgamer.com/gsc-gameworld-returns-for-cossacks-3/
Calling it now, Metro Exodus will probably be a better Stalker game than this
You SHUT your GODDAMN WHORE MOUTH Hopefully stalker(2?) will crack the modding scene open even more... Y'know, the scene solely responsible for all of these positive and anticipatory reactions~
I'm feeling better about the no-hl3 timeline now.
I've been playing the games since the first one was released in US, and I played both SHOC and Clear Sky pre patched on release. (Clear Sky prepatched, wew that was the roughest. Game's still rough to this day ) Call of Pripyat came out in the west prepatched with the only patch they released. (at least my copy did) I never needed any mods to enjoy the games back then. The modders didn't make the games, they just improved on them. If there wasn't a great game (Clear Sky is not so great, but I still love it) at the start nobody would have put in the effort or cared to download the mods. Also, if Metro Exodus does end up being better I'd be fine with that as long as STALKER 2 itself is good. I love both series so I'll play them both to death.
Nah. Say what you want about Metro but it was never anywhere near a STALKER game.
I wasn't aware that my dick was able to be this hard.
