"its like this episode exists to cater to children"
fucking unthinkable
Had to double check if this was Mysterious Mr Enter
also fuckin sick of seeing this thumbnail all over youtube
I haven't even seen it yet but I guessing it's one of those videos that just dissolve into "Cartoons are different from when I was a kid yadda yadda new things scare me cn/nick is dying"
spongebob doesn't apply to this because it was made by fucking gods and will be preserved through the ages as a testament
Video essays were a goddamn mistake holy shit
It quickly devolved from "Video Essays" to "The Same Old Reviews But I Put Chill Hop On It"
New terrible episode? This show has been garbage for a LONNNGGG time now.
If I'm gonna be honest, Spongebob was and has been improving alot better then it's Season 6-8 days, ever since Mr. Hilbreg returned, alot of the episodes of the season was actually pretty good (and in a row too)
So I can understand why some people are upset when something so mundane and kinda lazy was made, after all those good episodes
People are overrating tho
A good animation doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence i.e. a lot of pixar movies. A lot of spongebob's old stuff were stuff that adults could watch and not feel like an idiot such as Mr Crab's daughter being a whale and Larry the Lobster being a cliche character archetype.
Some of the jokes were actually a little bit dirty at times. "Want to see my secret workout?"
This review is probably as boring as the episode itself. Haven't watched a new episode of Spongebob since 2008 when "the dark ages of Spongebob Squarepants" began.
Help I cant tell if this is supposed to be parodying Mr. Enter or not
Like, sure, the old episodes were legitimately smart and were for both adults and kids, whereas the post-movie episodes massively tanked in quality and are now aimed primarily at young kids - but, I still don't think it's worth the time or mental effort to extensively dwell on the massive drop in quality at this point.
I think there's only so many ways to articulate the drop in quality, and commenting how smart the old episodes were is just preaching to the choir.
Even ignoring the "it's a kid's show" argument (I personally think the first three Seasons were good even for adults), it's been like a decade since the smart writing stopped so I don't really care. I just mentally categorize it as "anything after the movie sucks" and I move on with my day.
But... Why? What's wrong with that? I mean, "nowadays" is silly, I agree, but criticizing media is totally valid and something I'm interested in, kids show or not. The Avatar series is a kids' show and I'm a sucker for any well made content about it.
is this some internet guy i'm completely unfamiliar with?
Spongebob died at Season 3. 4 had its moments but everything past that is garbage as far as im concerned.
It never ends
"it repeats itself to drag out the episode length"
hey HYPOCRITE...
Mr. Enter was this Youtube animation reviewer who used to make tons of videos reviewing Teen Titans Go/Spongebob episodes and used to say stuff like "What were the writers thinking?!" and repeatedly say that the episodes were bad and do deep analysis's on the episodes . It was worse back then with his channel when he used to say things about how writers need to be blacklisted and such for making a terrible episode of Spongebob, even going too far with how he used to think when reviewing episodes of a show and his fanbase ended up harassing one of the writers of Spongebob, Casey Alexander, on Twitter. He's apologized for doing that a long time ago and still does reviews, though I don't really watch him anymore so I don't know how much he's changed since then.
Did half of you guys just decide not to watch the video or something?
He raises some pretty solid points about the poor gag quality and general episode structure in contrast to the rest of this season, which has honestly been exceptional from what I've seen (only caught 2 episodes but I was amazed by the quality of the writing after years of hearing people like you guys bitch and moan about "modern spongebob" on the internet)
It seems like a half of the responses here are "ugh its just another 'modern cartoons suck' rant" (which its super not) and the other half is "ugh modern spongebob is garbage" (which shows that... well you're just not the target audience for this. I can guarantee most people saying that ALL the new episodes are trash have not given the show a genuine chance in quite some time, but even if you have and still decided you really hate new spongebob, that's not what this video is about)
At least the animation seems more expressive than usual.
The only one I can ever remember was 'Patrick, your genius is showing'.
